REVOLUTION RECAP: Back to the Future
REVOLUTION 2. 11 Mis Dos Padres
Aaron
In Oklahoma, Grace tells Aaron that she has been living in the city alone since the Tower…until the day prior, when a woman arrived and then collapsed of heat stroke. In what can’t be a coincidence, the woman is Aaron’s wife, Priscilla. She tells him that her dead father told her to come to Oklahoma and she has also seen the fireflies. She’s relieved when he confirms that she’s not crazy.
Grace tells them that the nanobots have figured out how to network and now are functioning kind of like one giant brain. The reason why Aaron and Priscilla are involved is because they both helped write the code that made it all possible. The nanobots are interacting with them to “get to know their parents”.
Priscilla tells Aaron that her husband left her when she started going “crazy”. He tells her about Cynthia.
Miles, Rachel, and Monroe
Monroe is taken by Connor to see the leader of the cartel. There’s a full fledged fiesta going on within the compound and everyone seems to be having a great time. Except for the dead man hanging from a veranda by his wrists, covered in lacerations from a whipping, that is.
They throw Monroe in a cell and Connor suggests they auction him off to the highest bidder. Later, in private, Monroe tries to convince him to stay away from Nunez, the cartel leader, but Connor tells him that the man has been like his father. Miles busts in and interrupts, knocking out Connor. Monroe refuses to leave him to face the blame for his escape and Miles runs off.
Monroe grabs Connor’s gun, hands it back to him, and goes back into his cell so it looks like Connor foiled the escape. Minute later, a rather ticked off Miles gets tossed in the cell next to him.
Nunez doesn’t believe Connor’s story but suggests that Monroe needs to be punished and Connor is forced to agree. They take him out to the veranda and tie him up and Connor starts to viciously whip him. Nunez decides to keep Monroe alive so they stop before they kill him.
Rachel charms one of the cartel’s men to get near where they are keeping Miles and Monroe. She pays a girl to get into the hacienda and is immediately confronted by Connor, who gives her a set of keys, tells her to rescue Miles and Monroe, and not to mention he was involved. He tells her that he owes Monroe one.
Rachel releases them, but they run into Connor and Nunez before they can escape – Nunez is going to kill Connor for his lack of loyalty, but doesn’t want to see it actually happen, so he leaves and Miles, Rachel, Connor and Monroe fight their way past his men.
Later, Connor and Monroe fight because Connor has now lost everything he knows for Monroe. Monroe assures him that they will get *everything* back, together.
Charlie and Gene
The Patriots are building a fenced-in camp outside of the town. Gene recognizes one of the men – it’s one of his best friends. He wants to run in and rescue him, but Charlie points out the obvious – that they are outnumbered and outgunned. He’s not ready to give up on his friend easily, though.
He sneaks into the camp at night and find his friend dead in one of the tents. He gets caught, but Charlie followed him and is able to take out the guy who found them. They both are soon caught by multiple armed men. Gene pleads with the head of the Patriots to let Charlie go, but instead they are led to a tent and their handcuffs are taken off. Inside are many sick people in hospital beds – the camp is a quarantine for typhus. The leader asks for Gene’s help to save the town.
Jason and Neville
Jason shows Neville the papers that he found in Allenford’s room. The papers discuss a number of new reprogramming facilities that are going to be built around the country. Turns out that his new stepfather signed off on all of them.
Neville and Julia fight as they have different ideas of how things should go down next. She tells him to stay away from her husband’s office. That same evening, though, her husband tells her that there was a break-in at his office. Julia confronts Neville, but it wasn’t him – it was Jason. Jason tells them that reprogramming is just the beginning, but before he can tell them much else, two soldiers come and insist that he go with them.
My thoughts:
Anyone want to place bets on whether consumption of oranges is linked to developing typhus? The Patriots just keep getting more diabolical. What could honestly be their endgame? Kill off a huge proportion of the population to what end?
Billy Burke definitely gets the best lines and he delivers them with such a delightfully straight face. He and David Lyons have such great chemistry together, I’m glad that they are back to working together and not trying to kill each other, even if Monroe doesn’t seem to have learned his lesson about power. Based on his prediction to Connor, I suspect that Miles will once again get in his way as he tries to rise again to the top.
Interesting new revelations regarding the nanotech which potentially explains why they Cynthia had to die to advance the plot as it seems that Aaron and Priscilla are destined to get back together. I had always assumed that she was the pretty woman that fell for the nerd, but apparently she can hold her own when it comes to programming as well. I wonder how long it will be before we met the third member of their team.
