Returning Favorites

The Blacklist

Now that the 2013-2014 TV season has gotten back into full swing after the holidays, there are plenty of programming options for TV fans to get into with three returning favorites coming back on tonight.

First, there is the top rated new TV drama The Blacklist that will be back on NBC at 10 PM. In the few short months since the drama debuted in September, The Blacklist has easily become one of the most-buzzed-about shows of the TV season. James Spader quite simply owns the role of Raymond “Red” Reddington, one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives who – for whatever reason – has turned himself over to the FBI with one caveat: he will only speak with new FBI profiler Elizabeth “Liz” Keen.

Newcomer Megan Boone was tasked with the role of Liz, playing opposite Spader and, for the most part, holding her own. But Red isn’t the only obstacle she has had to overcome, there is the uncertainty of her own husband Tom’s (Ryan Eggold) identity and proving herself to her partner Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and her boss Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix).

When last we saw the team, Ressler survived the near fatal injury he sustained when the underground FBI location where Red was being detained (well, sort of being detained) and where Liz’s team was housed was infiltrated by one of Red’s most deadliest foes Anslo Garrick (guest star Ritchie Coster) while Red; Red was tortured by Anslo and eventually got free, but went on the run; questions still swirled around who Tom really is and Liz learned a mysterious group had been spying on her every move.

What answers will viewers get when the show returns? How will Liz’s FBI team recover from the actions of the fall finale? And who the hell has been watching Liz and Tom? And why have they been following them? To find out what happens next on The Blacklist make sure to watch the winter premiere on NBC tonight (January 13) at 10 PM.

Then there is the season premiere of the Syfy series Lost Girl, which will be back for its fourth season tonight at 8 PM.

What better way to look back at the first three seasons of the show? Check out the recap from Syfy below:

As for the fourth season of the show, fans can expect to find out what happened to Bo (series lead Anna Silk), what’s going on with Kenzi (series regular Ksenia Solo), where Lauren (series regular Zoie Palmer) disappeared to, what happened to Dyson (series regular Kris Holden-Reid) and Tamsin (series regular Rachel Skarsten) after that insane accident and what is going on with Trick (series regular Rick Howland) and Hale (series regular K.C. Collins).

You can also take a look at an early review on the season premiere of the fourth season right here.

Make sure to watch the premiere of Lost Girl on Syfy tonight (January 13) at 8 PM.

Bridesmaid Up!

Lastly, the other show returning tonight from its fall break is the remake of the CBS 80’s classic series Beauty And the Beast on The CW. Granted the show has seen a significant drop in ratings because of its move from Thursday nights at 9 PM to Mondays at 9 PM and the show experienced quite a change in storyline when it aired its second season premiere back in October.

As fans of the show will recall, Vincent (series lead Jay Ryan) had been missing for three months and when he was found by his love Catherine (series lead Kristin Kreuk) and best friend J.T. (series regular Austin Basis), he had no memory of his life, working as an assassin for a mysterious voice on the phone, who turned out to be Catherine’s biological father (recurring guest star Ted Whittall).

Catherine and Tess (series regular Nina Lisandrello) are back to being partners and are now working for Gabe (series regular Sendhil Ramamurthy), who is the new person in charge at the precinct. As they work to help Vincent regain his memories and bring Vincent’s mission to an end, they get closer and closer to the truth about her dad.

Where the show left off was that there is a new beast in the city: Tori Windsor (guest star Amber Skye Noyes), who has an uncomfortable connection with Vincent and Catherine – for better or worse – chose her dad over Vincent, actually shooting Vincent rather than allowing him to kill her bio-dad.

How will Catherine and Vincent’s relationship ever recover from what she did to him? What kind of havoc will her bio-dad make for them even from behind bars? Will Gabe ever admit his feelings for Catherine and what is up with Tess and J.T.? There are plenty of questions for which fans will want to have answered and hopefully before the season is up, the powers that be behind the show will provide some of them.

To learn what happens next on Beauty And the Beast, make sure to tune into The CW tonight (January 13) at 9 PM.
