MODERN FAMILY Recap: Larry’s Wife

By  |

Phil has been on a hot streak at work with a bunch of new clients that just happen to be divorced women. According to Phil, he hit the “Single Mother load.”

Baby Joe plays a little too rough at Day care and is not allowed to come back. Jay wasn’t too concerned, but Gloria is convinced his bad behavior is due to “The Curse” in her family. Her great-great grandfather was given the location of an emerald mine in exchange for his soul and she believes there is a mark of the devil in her family.  Gloria called a priest because she was afraid of Joe. He was playing with his blocks and had 3 blocks together that said 666. Uh oh. Hilarious!

Mitch greets Cam and says “Hi Fiancée.” Aw! They agreed that Cam would be in charge of the wedding. After their friends Andy & Andy broke up because of the stress of wedding planning, they agreed Cam would take the lead on the planning. But by giving up control to Cam, it has brought out the OCD in Mitch at work. Who knew he was such a control freak? J

Lily is concerned because Larry, their cat, has been missing for a few days; Cam assured her that Larry would come home.  As soon as Lily left the room Cam told Mitch he was pretty sure Larry was dead and they should wait a couple of weeks to get a new Larry and everything would be fine! (OMG! That is so wrong, I can’t believe Cam said it!). Mitch was shocked by Cam’s calm attitude regarding their family pet.

Luke had a poker game at the house with his friends. Haley wanted in on the game but only if they were playing for real money instead of milk money. Luke went against their “no girl” rule and let her play. It didn’t work out too well for them, so they went to Alex and begged her to play because she is the best player in the family (of course she is! I love that smart girl). She agreed only because she wanted revenge on one of Luke’s creepy friends who kissed her without her permission. Yuck!

Jay and Manny were at the mall and some punks bumped into to Jay without saying excuse me and Jay wasn’t having it. He got onto them for not having manners and then reached over and pulled one of the boy’s pants up. (Yes! Please pull those pants up, why do boys think it’s cute to show off their underwear? Nobody wants to see that mess!) Manny was so embarrassed because he goes to school with those kids and got frustrated with Jay.

Phil was enjoying juggling his divorced women clientele a little too much. One client in particular, he didn’t want to tell her that he was with another client like he was cheating on her or something. He definitely was getting too involved in their personal lives and Claire warned him (but you know he didn’t listen).

Modern Family wet cam and lilyLily was still worried about Larry so Cam told her that Larry met someone and got married. Just as he told this elaborate lie, Larry returned and sat on the counter. Then he told her that Larry’s wife died and they could have a funeral (for the cat that never existed). Cam was proud of himself for handling the situation so well without having to call Mitch (who was OCD cleaning his office and ended up stuck in a vent).

Cam went overboard for Larry’s wife’s funeral. There were flowers, a guy playing the bagpipes, a choir and a lot of friends with pets. Dylan (Haley’s old flame) came to dig the hole in the ground to bury the fake cat but he hit a water source and everyone got drenched!  Next thing you know there were cats and dogs all over the house and it was crazy! This helped Cam realize that he did need Mitchell to help with the wedding planning because he always goes over the top (that is an understatement).

Claire went to the grocery store and saw Phil shopping and felt bad for yelling at him, until she realized it was for another family. He was with one of his divorcee clients and another client showed up and Phil acted like he got caught cheating on his wife. They both claimed him as their realtor and then another client came up to fuss over Phil. Finally, Claire posed as a client just to mess with Phil and told the ladies he was the best realtor. Then she went on to say that he taught her how to trust a man again after her divorce from her husband who never listened to her or took her advice. HA! There is never a dull moment on this show! Favorite quote of the night: Phil touches Claire’s face and says, “Yes, I deal with a lot of lonely women. But there’s only one I’m married to.” Love it!
