SUITS: The Season of Jessica vs. Harvey
Suits returns to USA Network tonight and from the looks of the premiere, The Arrangement, Jessica has some major bad karma coming at her via Harvey Specter. As we found out last season Jessica will do anything for the firm, using any means at her disposal. Betraying Harvey is probably the worst mistake she could have made and this season she’s about to find that out.
The Arrangement set up the season quite clearly:
- Harvey will go after Jessica and attempt to “take her down”;
- Mike will have to find his way back into Harvey’s trust and that’s not going to be easy;
- Louis has a new rival;
- Rachel and Mike draw lines in their relationship;
- major case of the season will be the catalyst in all of the character’s relationships.
As I watched The Arrangement it struck me that Jessica is now in the same position as Daniel Hardman from last season. Daniel didn’t stand a chance against the troika of Jessica, Harvey and Mike, and all of them supported by Donna and Louis. I’m not sure if Jessica will be able to take on Harvey as a rival all by herself, smart and ruthless as she is.
Rachel gives Mike a healthy serving of reality after Mike reveals his secret to her last season. This season he’s going to have to prove himself to her as well as to Harvey. He may have less work to do with Rachel. Harvey had put his full trust in Mike and that is not something he easily gives away.
Michelle Fairley as Ava Hessington
The major case of the season involves an oil company who’s CEO stands to lose the company entirely if Pearson Darby can’t win her case for her. Ava Hessington is played by “Game of Thrones” actress Michelle Fairley.
Abigail Spencer returns as Dana “Scottie” Scott and Gary Cole is back as Cameron Dennis, Harvey’s former mentor, to nag at Harvey again.
It’s going to be an pretty exciting season for Suits fans. It was pretty strange to watch this episode with the boys at odds and not working together. I hope they can mend that rift and combine efforts once again.
