Nice Boys
NICE BOY OF THE WEEK: John Krasinski
In honor of tonight’s series finale of The Office, this week’s Nice Boy is leading man John Krasinski who has played affable, mischievous, smart, sardonic, and often sweet Jim Halpert for 10 seasons.
The Office was Krasinski’s first big break, making him a household name as half (with Jenna Fischer) of one of the most beloved TV couples of all time – Jim and Pam. Halpert and Beesly. PB&J. He and his castmates have won two Screen Actors Guild awards for Best Ensemble (2007 & 2008) and been nominated multiple times for the honor. The Massachusetts native has since gone on to play a leading man in romantic comedies like License to Wed and Away We Go; lent his voice to Doogal, Shrek the Third, and Monsters University; and had supporting roles in It’s Complicated (for which he won an National Board of Review award for Best Ensemble) and Something Borrowed. He also directed three episodes of The Office, honing his skills there before moving on to bigger projects. In 2009, Krasinski wrote, produced, directed and starred in the feature film Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, then followed that by co-writing and co-starring in Promised Land with Matt Damon in 2012.
Known for his tall frame, expressive face, and brilliant comic timing, Krasinski is just as fun to watch as “himself” in interviews as one of his characters. Take a look at this clip from his recent appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in which he challenges Jimmy to a lip synching contest. Talk about commitment!
Krasinski’s growth as a performer, writer, director, and producer over the last decade means his best work is probably still ahead of him. As we say farewell to Jim Halpert after 10 seasons, we look forward to what this Nice Boy will do next.
