Style Story: Dr. Mindy Lahiri of THE MINDY PROJECT
In this installment of our style series, we’re peeking inside the virtual wardrobe of one Dr. Mindy Lahiri, OB/GYN and eternal romantic from The Mindy Project.
Possessed of a determinedly cheerful spirit, as well as a belief that a person can never be overdressed, Mindy’s optimism and confidence are reflected in her clothes. She favors a wide color palette, ranging from delicate pink to siren red to cool green to sunny yellow, depending on her mood. Prints are plentifully and gleefully mixed, and she has so many amazing coats, I’m planning to do a Mindy’s Coats feature in September to inspire us beyond boring neutrals. Often bold, always whimsical, Mindy’s outfits have a touch of ’60s flair that create a style that’s uniquely her own.
At work, Mindy favors pencil skirts paired with printed blouses and solid cardigans, maintaining professionalism without hiding her fashion personality. She’s worn tops with sailboats (below), flowers, birds, polka dots, horses, diamonds, abstracts, and stars. So far. I need them all.
OK, one fabulous coat worked its way into this style story, but look at this outfit! It’s fifty shades of perfect! I love the layering of teals and greens – a monochromatic color scheme with a mix of patterns and textures is another hallmark of Mindy’s fashion.
That ’60s influence extends to Mindy’s party attire as well. At holiday events and grown up parties, she often chooses a jumper style with an A-line skirt, then adds a blouse and some metallic accessories to dress it up. This silver houndstooth dress is amazing.
Are you a fan of Mindy Lahiri’s look? What’s your favorite element of her style?
