MODERN FAMILY: Nude Year’s Eve

After a nice winter break Modern Family is back and hilarious as ever. Happy New Year…or Nude year I should say.  This episode was a great reminder of what an awesome ensemble this cast is and as a bonus Billy Dee Williams guest starred as himself. 2013 is looking good so far so let’s get to it!

It is New Year’s Eve and Jay was happy to make plans for Gloria, Cam, Mitchell, Claire and Phil to go to his favorite resort in Palm Springs.  Well Jay hadn’t been to this place for awhile (and by awhile I mean since 1975) and the place doesn’t have the same charm that it used to. They all check in and begin to make their own plans to get out of dinner at the resort.

Back at the Dunphy residence, Haley is in charge of babysitting Luke, Manny and Lily and Alex is in charge of Haley. All was going pretty well until the doorbell rang and two girls showed up for Luke and Manny (who was unaware of this blind date). They go upstairs to Luke’s room and Haley and Alex are shocked. They aren’t ready for their little brother to grow up.

Cam had a plan to pretend to get sick at dinner so he and Mitchell could sneak out and go to a nightclub for New Year’s, but when Gloria started falling asleep at the table he felt she stole his idea. Jay takes Gloria to the elevator so she could go to the room and rest, but rushed back to dinner for the famous cherries jubilee. Unfortunately for Jay, when he returns to the table everyone was gone.

Mitchell and Cam go to a hot nightclub but they feel out of place and a little old. They try to tough it out but when a wet towel hit Cam in the face, he was out of there so fast (I don’t blame him…Ewww). They try another bar where they enter and everyone was older…like way older. This place definitely made them feel young since it was a room full of baldies and silver foxes. They got free drinks and compliments. They felt like models and loved every minute of it!

Luke was in his room with the door closed and Haley told him he had to keep it open. He told her no because they were going to make out! GASP! Not little Luke! This snapped Haley into mom mode. She toughened up and told the girl she had to leave or she would call her parents and tell them she was there unsupervised. Go Haley! Alex had her back and the girl left. Manny on the other hand wasn’t having too much luck with his date and finally told her she was being mean. She softened a little bit and said he was a good friend. Manny did not want to be in the friend zone so he left her on the couch. Lucky for us they both struck out. I’m not ready for Luke and Manny to grow up yet.

Phil and Claire decided to spice up their New Year’s Eve by searching for a private hot springs the bellhop told them about when they checked in. It seemed like a good idea since they haven’t had any sexy time for a month. They find the hot springs and strip down and get ready for a romantic evening alone. Well that didn’t happen because there was one small detail the bellhop forgot to mention. It was Nude Year’s Eve and members of a nudist colony showed up and started stripping and jumping the water with them! There were naked people everywhere and it was hilarious! Happy Nude Year!

Jay ended up having the best New Year’s out of everyone because he stumbled upon a poker game with Billy Dee Williams. He was star struck at first but they hit it off well. When Gloria came down to find Jay, he introduced her to him but she had no idea who he was. It didn’t take her long to be taken by his charm and his fancy car (that happened to be her favorite car of all time). He let her drive his car and they all had a ball. Now that is how you spend New Year’s Eve!

Modern Family airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.
