TV Calendar for May

The following list provides the season finales for the major network dramas, the premiere dates for returning and/or new dramas on major and cable networks as well as made-for-TV movies that will all air during May:

May 4 – The series finale of In Plain Sight will air on the USA Network at 10 PM

May 5 – The four-hour Syfy movie event Treasure Island will air all in one night from 7 to 11 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Based on the legendary story by Robert Louis Stevenson, Eddie Izzard (The Riches) stars as Long John Silver, Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings franchise) plays Ben Gunn and Donald Sutherland (Pride and Prejudice) plays Flint in the story about young Jim Hawkins (Toby Regbo from Harry Potter), who is unexpectedly drawn into the world of piracy when he discovers a treasure map and finds himself battling Silver for the treasure and his life.

May 6 – The second season of Sherlock will start tonight on PBS at TIME

May 6 – The season finale of the new ABC series GCB will air at 10 PM

May 6 – The Hallmark Movie Channel made-for-TV movie Lake Effects will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The film tells the story of a high powered attorney Sara (Scottie Thompson from NCIS), who while on her way to the top reluctantly returns to her childhood home on the enchanting Smith Mountain Lake to attend her father’s (Jeff Fahey from Lost) funeral and help her sister Lily (Madeline Zima from Heroes) and mother Vivian (Jane Seymour from Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) settle the family estate. While there, Sara’s love for the lake and the townspeople is reignited, and with the help of her father’s ever present spirit, Sara looks inward, discovers the importance of love and family, and gives her all to save the family’s beloved home. The cast includes Ben Savage, Eyal Podell, Sean Patrick Flanery and Casper Van Dien.

May 7 – Castle will air its season finale on ABC at 10:01 PM

May 8 – The season finale of Unforgettable will air on CBS at 10 PM

May 9 – The season finale of CSI will air on CBS at 10 PM

May 9 – The new drama, part of BBC America’s “Dramaville”, White Heat will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The series charts the lives of seven friends from 1965 to present day. Their relationships – complex, volatile, life affirming and life changing – start when they come together as a diverse group of young students to live as flat mates in London’s Tufnell Park. The cast includes Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean 4), Claire Foy (Little Dorrit), MyAnna Buring (The Descent), Reece Ritchie (The Lovely Bones), Lee Ingleby (Luther), David Gyasi (Law & Order: UK) and Jessica Gunning (Law & Order: UK).

May 10 – The season finale of both The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle will air on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively

May 11 – CSI: NY and Blue Bloods will both air their season finales on CBS at 9 and 10 PM (respectively)

May 11 – The season finales of The Finder and Fringe will both air on FOX at 8 and 9 PM respectively

May 11 – The new series Common Law will debut on the USA Network at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Michael Ealy (Sleeper Cell) and Warren Kole (The Chicago Code) star as LAPD detective partners who are ordered into couples therapy by their captain (Jack McGee from Rescue Me. Sonya Walger (Lost) is the tough-as-nails therapist tasked with helping the detectives understand and resolve their conflicts so they might improve their ability to work together solving crimes.

May 13 – The Hallmark Channel film, the third in ‘The Note’ franchise, Notes From The Heart Healer will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Genie Francis (General Hospital) reprises her role as recently married journalist Peyton MacGruder, who has just written her first book based on her relationship advice column “The Heart Healer.” Traveling to a scenic village in Washington State on
her book tour, Peyton is surprised when her husband King (Ted McGinley) shows up with a special weekend planned at a beautiful cottage for their first anniversary. Things quickly take a turn, though, when Peyton finds a baby abandoned on her doorstep, with an anonymous note
begging her to take care of the infant.

May 13 – Once Upon a Time (one-hour) and Desperate Housewives (two-hours) will air their season and series finales on ABC at 8 and 9 PM respectively

May 14 – The season finale of Hawaii Five-0 will air on CBS at 10 PM

May 14 – Bones will air its season finale on FOX at 8 PM

May 14 – The season finales of Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie will air at 8 and 9 PM respectively on The CW

May 14 – The new NBC series Smash will air its season finale at 10 PM

May 15 – The season finale of NCIS (one hour) and NCIS: Los Angeles (two hours) will air on CBS at 8 and 9 PM respectively

May 15 – The season finale of 90210 will air on The CW at 8 PM

May 15 – Private Practice will air its season finale on ABC at 10 PM

May 16 – The two-hour season finale of Criminal Minds will air on CBS at 9 PM

May 17 – Person of Interest and The Mentalist will both air their season finales at 9 and 10 PM respectively

May 17 – The new NBC drama Awake will air its back-to-back final episodes from 9 to 11 PM

May 17 – Missing, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal will all air their season finales at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively on ABC

May 18 – The new fairytale drama Grimm will air its season finale on NBC at 9 PM

May 18 – Nikita and Supernatural will air their season finales on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively

May 20 – Mid-season finale of Army Wives on Lifetime at 9 PM

May 20 – The made-for-TV movie Kiss At Pine Lake will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Barry Watson (7th Heaven) and Mia Kirshner (The L Word) star in a summer romance – fifteen years in the making – as star-crossed lovers who finally share that very special first kiss as they unite to save their childhood camp,

May 20 – The next film in the Jesse Stone franchise, Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt, will debut on CBS at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jesse finds himself struggling to get his job back as the Paradise police chief, and he is forced to rely on his cop intuition to sort through a maze of misleading clues and hidden meanings as he attempts to solve a shocking and horrifying mob-related double homicide. The cast includes Kathy Baker, Kohl Sudduth, Stephen McHattie, William Devane, Gloria Reuben, Saul Rubinek and Robert Carradine.

May 20 – Harry’s Law will air its season finale on NBC at 8 PM

May 21 – A one-hour retrospective followed by the two-hour series finale of House will air on FOX at 8 and 9 PM respectively

May 22 – The season finale of Glee will air on FOX at 8 PM

May 23 – The new soap opera Revenge will air its season finale on ABC at 10 PM

May 23 – Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will air its season finale on NBC at 10 PM

May 24 – Rookie Blue will be back with a new season on ABC at 10 PM

May 25 – Episodes 1 to 7 of the new Starz series Magic City will air back-to-back starting at 9 PM

May 28 – The Nickelodeon movie Rags will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie is set against a New York City backdrop, making a contemporary twist on the classic Cinderella tale starring Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee) as international pop princess, Kadee Worth and Max Schneider (How to Rock) as an orphan and aspiring singer, Charlie Prince. While the world knows Kadee as a glamorous superstar, she is secretly frustrated with singing other people’s songs and wearing clothes other people choose for her. She wants the world to hear and see her true talent. Despite every obstacle that gets thrown in their way, once Charlie and Kadee find one another, they each finally get what they have been looking for – a voice, a stage, an audience and each other. The film also stars Isaiah Mustafa (from the Old Spice commercials) and Drake Bell (Drake and Josh).

May 28 – The HBO film Hemingway and Gellhorn will air sometime this month

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Nicole Kidman plays Martha Gellhorn a celebrated war correspondent and the third wife of Ernest Hemingway (Clive Owen). The story trails their passionate often rocky relationship during the Spanish Civil War and beyond.

May 28 – The History Channel will debut the original three-part mini-series Hatfields & McCoys (check your local listings for airtimes)

Mini-Series Synopsis: This film will focus on the legendary family feud between the Hatfield and McCoy families that stars Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton as heads of the separate households. The cast includes Jena Malone, Lindsay Pulsipher, Mare Winningham, Matt Barr, Powers Boothe and Tom Berenger.

Memorial Day Weekend – The A&E four-hour, two-night mini-series Coma, based on the Robin Cook novel, will debut (check your local listings for airtimes)

Mini-Series Synopsis: Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods, Geena Davis, Lauren Ambrose and Steven Pasquale are set to star in this medical thriller will be set in modern-day retelling of the best-selling novel by Robin Cook. The cast will also include James Rebhorn, Joe Morton and Joseph Mazzello.

May 29 – The Canadian series The L.A. Complex will air its season finale on The CW at 9 PM

May 31 – The two-hour season finale of the new FOX drama Touch will air at 8 PM
