April TV Calendar
As the TV season starts coming to an end on the major networks, the following are the cable shows that will be back with new episodes, new shows that will debut on both cable and the major networks, any time slot changes (where applicable) as well as season finales for cable and major network shows and the made-for-TV movies and/or mini-series for the month. Please use the following as a guide for your viewing pleasure for April:
April 1 – Game of Thrones will be back for its second season on HBO at 9 PM
April 1 – The Killing two-hour season premiere on AMC at 8 PM
April 1 – Mad Men will move to its regular time slot of 10 PM on AMC tonight
April 1 – Great Expectations will air as a two-part mini-series on PBS’ Masterpiece Classic at 9 PM
Mini-Series Synopsis: This is a new take of the Dickens novel with Gillian Anderson as the haunting Miss Haversham. Pip, an orphan boy, meets an escaped convict, a mentally unhinged rich woman, and a bewitching girl, and is bestowed great expectations of wealth from a mysterious patron. The cast includes David Suchet (Hercule Poirot) and Ray Winstone.
April 2 – Bones will return from his hiatus on FOX at 8 PM followed by House moving to its new time of 9 PM
April 4 – The two-hour series finale of One Tree Hill will air on The CW

April 5 – The new ABC drama Scandal will debut at 10:02 PM
Show Synopsis: The series takes a look behind-the-scenes at the machinations of a mesmerizing top crisis manager, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), who has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation’s elite and keeping their secrets under wraps. The cast includes Henry Ian Cusick (Lost), Columbus Short (Stomp the Yard), Tony Goldwyn (Ghost) and Jeff Perry (Grey’s Anatomy) [among others].
April 6 – The new Starz series Magic City will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: This new period piece drama is set in1959, focusing on Ike Evans (Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Supernatural) who conjures ways to finance his dream. He has essentially sold his soul to the devil, mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond (Danny Huston from X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Ike’s wife Vera (Olga Kurylenko from Quantum of Solace), a former showgirl, and his three children think he is an honorable man, but he just can’t break his pact with the most dangerous criminal in town.
April 6 – The Finder will return to FOX on its new night at 8 PM

April 14 – The four-part ABC mini-series Titanic will debut at 8 PM, airing the first three parts
Mini-Series Synopsis: “Titanic” is an extraordinary re-telling of the doomed voyage that cleverly weaves action, mystery and romance over four hours and two nights of programming. Shot in Budapest, Hungary, it features both fictional and historical characters, ranging from steerage passengers and crew to upper class guests and staff, who all come together in an explosive and unforgettable finale. Each hour follows similar events from different points of view, culminating in a cliff-hanger, as the ship begins to founder, and building to an explosive conclusion in the final hour that draws together all the stories. Viewers will be taken on a heart-wrenching journey through Titanic’s last moments, as it’s revealed who among the characters they’ve come to know so well will survive, and who will not. The film stars Linus Roache and Geraldine Somerville [among others].
April 14 – The Syfy movie Alien Tornado will debut at 9 PM
Movie Synopsis: The film stars Jeff Fahey (Lost) and Kari Wuhrer (Sliders) in a story about aliens who attack Earth, using deadly electrical tornadoes as weapons. A farmer, his brilliant high school daughter and a tornado blogger race against the clock to find a way to thwart the horrific invasion.

April 15 – SOAPNet will kick off the reairing of Veronica Mars with an 11-hour marathon today (check local listings for airtimes)

April 15 – The Hallmark Channel original movie Undercover Bridesmaid will debut at 8 PM
Movie Synopsis: Brooke Burns stars as Tanya Harsin, a bodyguard who has been hired to protect Daisy, the daughter of a Texas mogul (Gregory Harrison), who has been receiving death threats weeks before her wedding.
April 15 – The new CBS police drama NYC 22 will debut at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: The series follows six diverse NYPD rookies as they patrol the gritty streets of upper Manhattan and stars Terry Kinney, Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski and Robert De Niro.
April 16 – Eureka will be back for its finale season on Syfy at 9 PM followed by the season premiere of the second season of Lost Girl at 10 PM
April 17 – Ringer will air its season finale at 9 PM on The CW

April 22 – The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Firelight will debut on ABC at 9 PM
Movie Synopsis: Cuba Gooding Jr. plays Dwayne Johnson, a counselor at a youth correctional facility where the incarcerated girls and young women come from troubled – often violent — backgrounds. Many of them belong to gangs and have been involved with illegal drugs – as users and/or dealers. Salvation for many of the young women comes when they join an elite band of volunteers who battle forest fires, build hiking trails in remote areas and assist during natural disasters.
April 24 – The Canadian series The L.A. Complex will debut on The CW at 9 PM
Show Synopsis: The series follows the lives of twenty year olds living in the same apartment complex in Los Angeles, who are trying to make it as actors, dancers, producers and comedians. Relationships begin and end, the need to succeed is tested and all characters are pushed to their breaking points. The cast includes Jonathan Patrick Moore, Joe Dinicol, Chelan Simmons, Cassie Steele, Benjamin Charles Watson and Jewel Staite.
April 28 – The Hallmark Movie Channel movie Duke will debut at 8 PM
Movie Synopsis: Steven Weber stars as Marine Sergeant Terry Pulaski, a once proud man who is now a broken shell of himself having returned from Iraq with both PTSD and a disabling injury. Terry struggles to be a good father and husband, but he’s constantly depressed and hates the man he’s become. Terry’s wife reluctantly brings home a stray dog that her student’s named Duke, knowing that Terry and their daughter will immediately fall in love. But during a Fourth of July firework celebration, Terry has flashbacks of the war and finds himself being comforted by Duke as the two lay huddled together on the laundry room floor.
April 28 – The Syfy movie Space Twister debuts at 9 PM
Movie Synopsis: Erica Cerra (Eureka) plays the mother of a teenage genius in a story about other-worldly storms, similar to the ones comprising the eye of Jupiter, begin destroying the planet, disintegrating everything they touch. A high school student’s science project becomes the mysterious key to ending the catastrophic storms and saving civilization. Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files) co-stars.
April 29 – The season finale of The Good Wife will air on CBS at 9 PM
