GLEE: Heart
Thoughts on this week’s episode of Glee, titled Heart.
Valentine’s Day and Glee–a perfect ending to a very long day in the life of Louise. With a theme of love songs for the Glee Club to sing to people on campus.
- Oh hello Rachel’s fathers! Misters Berry, please do not argue about Tony Danza in front of your daughter and her fiance.
- There’s a Berry-Hudson-Hummel dinner in the works. I’m almost worried for everyone, but I can’t quiet be bothered to mind.
- This new kid in the G-d Squad is like a walking advertisement for a hippy who needs time away from the special herbs.
- It is never a good plan for two men to fight over a girl (especially Sugar). Rory vs Artie will be more than hilarious, though. Intercutting Mike and Tina sing “L-O-V-E” while Rory and Artie fight for dominance is a nice touch.
- Figgins, why are you interrupting Brittany and Santana having a nice PDA? (Oh man, when Figgins calls Finn and Rachel Finnchel, you know the writers are looking around fandom.)
- Thank you Kurt and Quinn for articulating how much is wrong with this potential wedding. However, I can admit that “Stereo Hearts” is a good number to sing with the G-d Squad and the entire choir.
- I want to quietly weep for Rory for not being able to come back next year, but that song was very touching in all the ways that should be around the holiday.
- What is this intellectual debate about religion and homosexuality? This is too heavy for this show. (Here is the moment wherein Louise wants to openly weep. Thanks Mercedes for bringing depth and beauty to “I Will Always Love You”.)
- Why is Kurt conspicuously absent from this dinner? Double-ententes about lube is awkward with dinner conversation. Making this dinner worse is allowing them both to spend the night together. Ah now it all makes sense, forcing them to be mature means they might actually realize how they shouldn’t get married.
- Kurt’s secret valentine is David. I’m not sure if I should be proud of David for coming this far or be hurt that he’s trying to step into what Kurt already has. Seeing that other guy is not what David needed either. Poor guy.
- Joe, you make up for all those people who are narrow-minded. That “Cherish” mash-up is worth it.
- Well, Blaine, hello and welcome back! Ending on “Love Shack” feels odd on a romantic holiday, but I’m going to roll with it because well, this is Glee and it’s light-hearted fun.
Next week New Directions perform at Regionals in the “On My Way” Winter Finale episode of GLEE airing Tuesday, Feb. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
