February TV Calendar

As the TV season continues to roll out this year, the following are shows that are returning to the winter line-up, cable shows that will be back on with new episodes, new shows that will debut or time slot changes for a select few. Please use the following as a guide for your viewing pleasure for February:

February 1 – The first Netflix original series House of Cards will debut online

Online Series Synopsis: Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara star in the political drama based on the BBC miniseries of the same name that takes viewers through the back halls of greed, sex, love and corruption in modern Washington, D.C. Spacey plays Francis Underwood, the House Majority Whip, who’s described as masterful, beguiling, charismatic and ruthless. He and his equally ambitious wife Claire (Wright) stop at nothing to ensure their ascendancy.

February 2 – The Lifetime movie Betty & Coretta will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Betty & Coretta tells the dual real-life stories of Coretta Scott King (Angela Bassett) and Dr. Betty Shabazz (Mary J. Blige), wives respectively of Dr. Martin Luther King (Malik Yoba, New York Undercover) and Malcolm X (Lindsay Owen Pierre, The Killing Yard), as they create an unbreakable life-long bond after their husbands’ tragic assassinations. These two women not only inherited the mantle of the civil rights movement in America, each also found herself to be a single mother who had to find a way to raise and support her children with no husband or father, resulting in a relationship like no other that spanned more than three decades.

February 4 – Monday Mornings will debut on TNT at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Set at the fictional Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon, the series follows the lives of doctors as they push the limits of their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao and Emily Swallow.

February 4 – The Lifetime movie Secrets of Eden will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The faith of a minister (played by John Stamos) is shattered after one of his congregation is murdered by her abusive husband, who then commits suicide.

February 6 – The new NBC series Smash will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: A successful songwriting team, begin work on a new musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe with a tenacious producer and an acclaimed director jumping on board. A tough Broadway veteran, Ivy, seems like the obvious choice for the lead role, but enter Karen Cartwright, a young girl from Iowa with a dream of making it on Broadway who walks in and blows everyone away. The cast includes Debra Messing, Anjelica Houston, Katharine McPhee, Jack Davenport and Megan Hilty.

February 7 – The new series The River will debut on ABC at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series follows the story of wildlife expert and TV personality Emmet Cole, who sets course around the world with his wife, Tess, and son, Lincoln, while filming what would become one of the most popular shows in television. After he goes missing deep in the Amazon, his family, friends and crew set out on a mysterious and deadly journey to find him. The cast includes Bruce Greenwood, Leslie Hope, Paul Blackthorne and Joe Anderson.

February 8 – The 200th episode of NCIS will air on CBS at 8 PM

February 10 – The winter finale of CSI: NY will air on CBS at 9 PM [NOTE: The show will return March 30.]

February 11 – The Hallmark Channel movie Cupid will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: With Valentine’s Day approaching, Eve Lovett (Joely Fisher), a workaholic TV talk show host with a string of failed relationships, is worried she will never find true love. But when a mysterious stranger named Vernon Gart (Jamie Kennedy) shows up on the set claiming to work for Cupid, Incorporated, Eve has no idea her love life is about to get an arrow right through the heart. The cast includes Roark Critchlow and Rebecca McFarland.

February 11 – A marathon of season 1 episodes of The Walking Dead will air on AMC [Check local listings for airtimes]

February 12 – A marathon of season 2 episodes of The Walking Dead will air today, leading up to the return of new episodes of the series at 9 PM on AMC [Check local listings for airtimes]

February 15 – BBC America will rerun The Hour, starting tonight (check local listings for airtimes)

February 17 – A Gifted Man will move to its new timeslot on CBS at 9 PM

February 17 – The Disney Channel movie Radio Rebel will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Debby Ryan (Jessie) stars as a teen who secretly breaks free from her painfully shy self and into the persona of a bold podcast host who rocks her Seattle high school with music and the message to ‘be yourself’.

February 19 – The finale of Pan Am will air on ABC at 10 PM

February 19 – The final part of season 2 of Downton Abbey should air tonight on PBS at 9 PM (check your local listings)

February 21 – The winter finale of Glee will air on FOX at 8 PM

February 21 – Royal Pains will air its season finale on the USA Network at 10 PM

February 25 – Being Human (the original UK series) will be back on BBC America at 9 PM

February 26 – The Academy Awards will air on ABC at 8:30 PM

February 28 – Parenthood will air its season finale on NBC at 10 PM

February 28 – The season finale of White Collar will air at 10 PM on the USA Network

February 29 – Psych will be back with more new episodes on the USA Network starting tonight at 10 PM

Mark your calendars!
