Thanksgiving Turkeys of 2011
I’ve been salivating over the Food Network‘s Thanksgiving Day cooking tips and favorite recipes of the great chefs. I was also thinking about all the things I’m thankful for this year, including good television. Nice Girl Rueben posted many of the shows that I too am thankful for. However, there have been a few turkeys this year. Shows that should never have aired or just looked good on paper, but didn’t fly well on screen. We are going to look at five of those.
- Prime Suspect – This remake of the British series starring Helen Mirren might have worked well if they had, well, they just should have left it alone. Not saying that Maria Bello was not good. I just didn’t like her in this role. I didn’t believe her ‘Jane’ and I positively hated her squad.
- Charlie’s Angels – Another remake, this time of a show that was popular in the 70’s. And that’s where it should have stayed.
- The Playboy Club – Seriously? This one was doomed from the drawing board. I couldn’t even watch it.
- Free Agents – I really wanted this one to work out. They had a great cast and a fun idea. I have no idea what went wrong. Maybe it just wasn’t given the chance to grow into itself.
- How to Be a Gentleman – I’m sorry, what? When was this on? Who was in it? what was it about? Hmm, maybe that’s why it didn’t make it.
