Throwback Tuesday: Giving Thanks and San Diego Comic Con 2021 Special Edition

By  |

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, I wanted to wish all of our readers, who celebrate the holiday, a very happy Thanksgiving!

Please enjoy your day with your family and friends; and enjoy the hearty meals that you’ll have, but please stay safe.

Given it’s a holiday “week,” I wanted to take a look back at a “Giving Thanks” article that I posted back in 2017, as the items I gave thanks for that year are the same items for which I would thanks this year.  The only differences are how many more strong female characters there are to admire on TV and that season 6 of Outlander will FINALLY premiere on March 6 on Starz.

Here is that article verbatim:

As is custom for this time of year, with Thanksgiving only a few days away, we here at NiceGirlsTV are making it known the things for which we are most thankful. Since we all have a deep love for TV, naturally, our lists are comprised of what we have loved most on the small screen.

Make sure to check out Thanksgiving 2017 article that showcases what the other NiceGirls are thankful for; and check out the following, which are the entertainment-related “things” for which I am most thankful for this year:

Outlander – I know I sound like a broken record where this Starz drama based on the international best-selling books by author Diana Gabaldon is concerned; but even being three seasons into the show’s run I still wait in anticipation for new episodes to air. And since I am reading the books in the long-running franchise in order to coincide with each new season, I’ll be reading “Drums of Autumn” once the show’s current season comes to a close in December.

Strong Female Characters – Since Outlander is my favorite TV series right now, it only makes sense that I admire Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser as one of the strongest female characters on the small screen. In addition to that, we will finally get to see The Doctor regenerate into a woman (in the form of actress Jodie Whittaker) in next month’s Christmas episode.

Also included in this group are Jane Doe on Blindspot; Elizabeth Keen on The Blacklist; Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles; Lucy Preston on Timeless; Jemma, Melinda and Daisy on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; Jaz Khan on The Brave; Hannah Wells on Designated Survivor; Alex and Kara on Supergirl; Lorna and Clarice on The Gifted; Eretria on The Shannara Chronicles and Clary on Shadowhunters.

Books – It is a rare thing anymore, finding people who actually like – or in my case LOVE – to read an actual book. There is just something about holding those bound pages in my hand, turning each page as I advance through the stories. Whether it is traveling through time and space, dealing with present day issues or looking back into the past, I thoroughly love reading! I just hope that the medium can continue even in our modern, nearly all-digital age.

What are you most thankful for this year? Please share them below.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our readers who celebrate the holiday!

Also, San Diego Comic Con was not held this past summer, but a special edition of the annual event will be happening in San Diego from November 26 to November 28. Check out the program schedule here. You can also learn more about this weekend’s event here.
