Review: True Blood, “I’m Alive and On Fire”
Help arrives in the form of Alcide when Sookie calls him to help sniff out Eric. It’s daylight and that’s not a good thing for vampires. They find him in a pond splashing around and inviting Sookie to come play with him. tch over a girl.How cute is that? He’s having such a good time, soaking up the sun, that it’s a few minutes before he realizes that Alcide is even there. He thinks Sookie is threatened and the two boys begin growling at each other and baring their fangs. Typical pissing match over a girl until Sookie puts a stop to it. “Stop that you giant babies!” she yells at them in frustration. Hilarious scene with these two six foot plus guys and teeny-tiny Sookie in between them. It’s all great until Eric starts to burn. The fairie blood is wearing off and he faces living in the dark once again. “I don’t want to go back to the dark,” he tells Sookie. He was so pitiful you wanted to cry. And Sookie’s mothering was so gentle, it was truly an ‘aw’ moment.
Menawhile Jason is still in Hotshot tied to a bed. He manages to charm one of the young girls into cutting him loose and he finally escapes, but he’s very weak and not feeling well at all. Felton discovers he is gone and changes into a panther to go after him. Jason ends up killing Felton and when Crystal comes upon the scene, Jason tells her he’s never going back to Hotshot. Crystal believes he’ll come running back to her. She’s getting nuttier by the minute.
Tara, Jesus and Lafayette try to get Marnie to remember the spell that would reverse the memory loss in Eric, but she can’t remember it and tells them that it wasn’t her spell, it was “the woman’s”. She doesn’t know who this woman is but she’s been having dreams about her. Or they could be the woman’s memories imprinted on Marnie. Marnie dreams about the woman’s death by burning at the stake, but as the woman is about to burn up, she begins a chant and Marnie starts to chant along with her. Odd, no? As the four go out into the woods to try to break the spell, Pam joins them and puts pressure on Marnie to ‘fix her Maker’. Flustered, Marnie says she can’t remember it and Pam angrily slings threats at her, which seemed to open the door for ‘the witch’ to possess Marnie. Through Marnie, the witch curses Pam and her skin begins to peel off. Exit Pam.
In this episode, we finally meet Caroline Bellefluer, played by Katherine Helmond. Portia brings Bill home to meet her and they start talking about the past. Portia brings out the family Bible and Bill and Caroline begin reading the family tree, until they come upon one name. Caroline begs Bill not to “do anything”, which Bill promises, but Portia is left in the dark. As Bill leaves, Portia tries to stop him and that’s when he tells her that he is her great ++++ grandfather, and he can no longer continue seeing her. Incest runs deep in this season, doesn it not?
There’s some excitement going on at the Fowler residence too. Terry walks into the living room where the baby is playing and finds the words “Not your baby” written on the wall in the same red marker that the baby is holding in his hands. Arlene screams and again we are lead to believe that there is something abnormal about this baby. I still don’t think so. What if Arlene wrote those words and doesn’t remember doing it? I just think she’s gone around the bend a little, and there’s nothing really wrong with little Mikey.
Jessica and Hoyt find Jason lying on the side of the road. Seeing that he’s been bitten numerous times, Jessica feeds him some of her blood so he will heal. What will the happen to Jason now? Will the vampire blood cancel out what Felton and Crystal tried to do to him? Or will he become something worse than anyone ever thought?
- Sam Merlotte learns that Luna has a daughter and the father is a werewolf;
- Eric overhears Sookie arguing with Alcide about how dangerous it is for Eric to be staying with her;
- Debbie Pelt didn’t look too happy when she finds out that Alcide was with Sookie. Building up to ‘bad Debbie’ perhaps?
