Necessary Roughness Recap: Spinning Out
Last night on Necessary Roughness, Dr. Dani faced some tough hurdles both at home and at the office. Obviously the episode began with an unannounced TK visit at 6:45 am; although, TK wasn’t the only one who showed up at Dr. D’s house without an invite. A court appointed observer arrived as well. The “CAO,” as Dani calls her, will be popping in any time day or night. At the end of the week she will make a recommendation to the court about which parent should retain full custody of the children.
At a meeting with coach Purnell, Dani learns that TK is having some trouble getting along with another team mate, Shane Givens, causing some serious locker room drama. Poor TK, another player is good and people actually like him…maybe someone needs to reconsider their actions? Dani tells TK the next day in their session to “keep his eyes on his own paper.” To stop worrying about other players and look out for himself. Obviously TK got the memo; his next move was to steal Shane’s girlfriend. After another locker room fight Dani asks TK, “why do you want all this chaos in your life?” Very wise, Dr. D. Finally TK admits to Dani that he’s jealous of Shane and just wants people to like him (he may not have heard, but usually stealing other people’s girlfriends will NOT make you more friends). After another public brawl between the two players TK and Shane become fast friends. All is well again in the world of TK and his childlike ways.
In addition to the usual TK drama, Dani is getting a new client, race car driver Billy “The Kid” Rhodes (Matt Barr). Billy was in an accident on the track and hasn’t raced since. When Dr. D pays him a visit he resists talking to her, but after he passes out from a panic attack it looks like he may reconsider. After a few meetings with Billy, Dani takes him out on the track and he drives like a pro again. But immediately upon getting out the car he claims he is going to quit for good. Dani realizes that Billy isn’t afraid of the driving but has been bullied out on the track by another driver, Dom Leveque. Dani explains to Billy that it’s not that Dom doesn’t have respect for him as a driver, but fears him as TK fears Shane. Billy is younger, faster and better. Lifting his spirits Billy decides to race again and comes in second! (Yay! Especially since Dom came in fifth!)
Aside from her work life, things are spinning out of control a little at home as well. With the CAO appearing at any time, Dani is terrified of messing up. Thank goodness her children are so helpful, telling the CAO all about her bad cooking and “evil” grounding. No wonder Dani turns down a big party invite by the team. Luckily Dani’s fun friend Jeanette (Amanda Detmer) drags her out of the house…perfect timing for bratty Lindsay to have a party. The night is cut short though when Lindsay, being her usual obnoxious self, calls the cops on her own party because the boy she likes is kissing someone else. This girl has some serious issues.
In the end everything is okay though. TK and Shane are friends, Billy is back on the track, Matt (Marc Blucas) still thinks Dani’s hot—shocker—and the CAO reports that the Santino home is quite normal. Dani gets to keep her kids! (Although if you ask me Dani should ship her daughter off to live with her father and just keep her cute son…)
What did you think of this weeks’ episode? Do you think Dani and Matt will ever get together? Do you think TK will ever actually change?
