Amy and Wendy Engelberg (Circa 1985)

Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is shone on Writers and Producers Amy and Wendy Engelberg, who are also sisters.

They got their start in 1995 writing for the short-lived comedy Maybe This Time that starred Craig Ferguson, Marie Osmond and Betty White. The following year they became writers and executive story editors for the TV adaptation of the box office film Clueless. It was around this time and for a few years after that they wrote individual episodes and worked as Producers for shows such as Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Katie Joplin, M.Y.O.B., Grosse Pointe and All About Us.

They then worked as Executive Producers on the TV film Way Downtown in 2002 and moved on to be Producers and Writers for the TV shows Regular Joe, 8 Simple Rules and Lizzie McGuire.

In 2004, they were Writers for the TV movie Stuck in the Suburbs and then they became Consulting Producers and Writers on the popular WB comedy What I Like About You. Over the next two years, they moved up to Consulting Producers and then Co-Executive Producers on that comedy.

Over the last few years, they have worked as Writers for the TV show About a Girl; Writers and Consulting Producers on the series Sonny With a Chance and Writers and Consulting Producers on the Lifetime series Drop Dead Diva.

Last year, they wrote the TV film Made…The Movie.
