The TV Calendar for June

Here is what you can look forward to seeing on the major and cable channels throughout June, including all the new shows that are debuting, the returning summer shows coming back on and the new made-for-TV movies:

June 1 – The new TNT series Franklin & Bash will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar (NYPD Blue) as Peter Bash and Breckin Meyer (Road Trip) as Jared Franklin, two fly-by-the seat-of-their-pants lawyers who catch the attention of Stanton Infeld (Malcolm McDowell), who runs one of the top law firms in Los Angeles. He ends up recruiting the pair to bring fresh energy to the firm. But that decision doesn’t sit well with Infeld’s nephew (Reed Diamond). Garcelle Beauvais (NYPD Blue) and Dana Davis (Heroes) co-star.

June 1 – Men of a Certain Age will return to TNT with new episodes at 10 PM

June 2 – The new drama Love Bites finally gets a premiere date on NBC at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: This romantic-comedy anthology series was set to premiere last fall but after numerous delays, the network is finally going to air it for a 9-week run this summer. The series stars Becki Newton (Ugly Betty), Guillermo Diaz (No Ordinary Family), Greg Grunberg (Heroes and Alias) and Constance Zimmer (Entourage).

June 4- The Syfy movie Red Faction: Origins debuts at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Robert Patrick (Terminator 2), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe) and Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica) star in Red Faction: Origins, based on the hugely successful Red Faction video game franchise. Twenty-five years have passed since Alec Mason (Patrick) led the Martian Colonies to freedom and 12 years since vengeful enemies killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter Lyra (Tamzin Merchant), and left a broken hero in their wake. Jake Mason (Smith), Alec’s only son and an officer in the Red Faction Militia, has his world turned inside out when he discovers that now, 12 years after her kidnapping, his sister is still alive. As a powerful new enemy swarms across the planet, Jake goes out to find her, only to learn that his lost sister is one of them — a cold-blooded soldier sworn to destroy the Red Faction. Vernon portrays The Matriarch, leader of the tribal Marauders sect.

June 5 and 6 – The new series Teen Wolf, loosely based on the box office film, will premiere its two-night premiere on MTV after the MTV Movie Awards (check local listings for airtime) and the following night

NOTE: The show will then shift to Mondays at 10 PM.

Show Synopsis: In this reimagining of the 1985 film, Tyler Posey (Lincoln Heights) stars as Scott McCall who gets bitten by a werewolf and learns that his life will never be the same. The series also stars Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien.

June 5 – The A&E drama The Glades will return for its second season at 10 PM

June 6 – The new ABC Family Channel series Switched at Birth will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working class neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls. Newcomer Katie Leclerc, Vanessa Marano (Gilmore Girls), Constance Marie (The George Lopez Show), D.W. Moffett (Friday Night Lights), Lea Thompson (Caroline in the City), Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical) and newcomer Sean Berdy star.

June 6 – The Lifetime movie Last Man Standing will debut at 9 PM (check local listings for airtime)

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Catherine Bell (Army Wives) stars as Abby, a happy suburban wife and mother who has been concealing her dark past as a military-trained special ops agent. When her husband is mysteriously kidnapped, her past returns to haunt her and she must risk everything to protect her daughter and save the man she loves. The film also stars Anthony Michael Hall (The Dead Zone) and Mekhi Phifer (ER).

June 7 – White Collar and Covert Affairs will be back on the USA Network at 9 and 10 PM respectively

June 11 – The Syfy movie Ice Road Terror will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The treacherous Alaskan ice road becomes the setting for a deadly pursuit in this suspenseful thriller where two truckers prepare to traverse a dangerous path across frozen rivers to deliver equipment to a remote diamond mine. Unbeknownst to them, blasting at the mine has awakened a long-dormant prehistoric creature. Upon arrival at the mine they encounter unbelievable carnage, leaving them stranded in the wilderness with a hungry beast on their trail. The cast includes Brea Grant (Heroes), Michael Hogan(Battlestar Galactica), Ty Olsson (Eureka), Dylan Neal (Blood Ties) and Malcolm Stewart (Kyle XY).

June 11 – The Hallmark Channel movie A Crush on You will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Ben (Sean Patrick Flanery from The Dead Zone) has a case of “love at first sight” when he sees a beautiful woman in a café and overhears Chloe Andersen (Christine Scott Bennett from How I Met Your Mother) giving her email address to a friend. Later that night, Ben courageously breaks the ice by introducing himself to Chloe anonymously via email with this message: “Five Top Reasons Why I’m Your Secret Admirer.” Ben’s display of affection for Chloe is misfiled when his emails are instead delivered to Charley Anderson (Brigid Brannagh of Army Wives). It seems Chloe’s co-worker shares a similar email protocol at Game 1 Sports and Entertainment Marketing owned by the legendary sports star “Big-Jim” Nelson (Michael Clarke Duncan from The Green Mile and Daredevil).

NEWLY ADDED:
June 11 – The next, new Procter & Gamble and Walmart family movie Field of Vision will air on NBC at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS:  Through mysterious footage captured on an old malfunctioning video camera, Sinclair High School’s star quarterback, Tyler McFarland (Tony Oller from the TV series Gigantic), learns that some of his teammates have been bullying Cory Walker (Joe Adler from the box office film Prom), a troubled new transfer student.  Aware that sharing this information with the coach might get his friends kicked off the team and ultimately cost the school the state championship, Tyler must choose what’s more important: winning or doing what’s right.  As these events unfold, the camera also reveals more surprising footage to Tyler’s kid sister Lucy (Alyssa Jordan Shafer from the TV series The Unit).  She learns that Cory has a secret past, unknown even to him.  Now Lucy must convince her mom (Faith Ford) and family that the camera’s revealing insight is not a product of her imagination as she enlists their help to find the answers Cory so desperately needs.

June 12 – The Protector will debut on Lifetime at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Gloria Sheppard (Ally Walker from Profiler) is a divorced mother, juggling her demanding personal and professional life as an intuitive LAPD homicide detective while raising two boys with the help of her troubled younger brother Davey (Chris Payne Gilbert). The show co-stars Tisha Campbell-Martin (My Wife and Kids) and Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan).

June 13 – The Secret Life of the American Teenager will return with its 4th season one week after the season finale of season 3 at 8 PM on the ABC Family Channel

June 13 – The new series Outcasts will debut on BBC America at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series is set in 2040 when the human race leaves Earth in hopes of starting over on a new planet, exploring survival, sex, politics and the drive for power in a new post-Earth era. The cast includes Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica), Ben Richard (MI-5), Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty), Liam Cunningham (Clash of the Titans) and Hermione Norris (MI-5).

June 13 – The Lifetime movie Nora Roberts’ Carnal Innocence will debut at 9 PM (check local listings for airtime)

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Caroline Waverly (Gabrielle Anwar from Burn Notice) dreams for tranquility while visiting a bucolic Southern town, but things turn nightmarish when she discovers the body of a woman who is possibly the victim of a serial killer. The film co-sars Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed).

June 14 – The TNT series Memphis Beat and HawthoRNe will both be back with new episodes at 9 and 10 PM (respectively)

June 14 – Pretty Little Liars will return for its second season at 8 PM on ABC Family Channel

June 14 – The Nine Lives of Chloe King will debut on ABC Family Channel at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The show follows Chloe King, who is looking forward to celebrating her birthday with her friends and single mother, just like every other year that is until she starts developing heightened abilities and discovers she’s being pursued by a mysterious figure. Chloe soon learns she’s part of an ancient race which has been hunted by human assassins for millennia – and that she may be their only hope for ultimate survival. Based on the book series by Celia Thomson, starring Skyler Samuels (The Gates), Amy Pietz (The Office), Grey Damon (Friday Night Lights), newcomer Grace Phipps as Amy, Benjamin Stone (10 Things I Hate About You), Alyssa Diaz (Southland) and Ki Hong Lee (The Secret Life of the American Teenager).

June 18 – The Hallmark Channel movie Rock the House will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Focusing on his job left little time for family in Max Petersen’s (Jack Coleman from Heroes) life. His behavior resulted in a divorce from his wife Diane (Helen Slater from Supergirl) and a strained relationship with his 16-year-old daughter Karen (Cassi Thomson from Big Love). When Karen, who has been having trouble making friends, wants to apply to boarding school across the country, Max begins to realize making a living doesn’t have to mean missing out on what really matters. After getting back together with his old high school band and finding love with a new girlfriend (Clare Carey from Jericho), things are looking up for Max. But just as Karen and Max begin to rebuild their bond, Max faces a new project at work that comes with a lucrative promotion. Once the demands of the job take hold, will his relationship with his daughter fall flat?

June 18 – Battlestar Galactica (the reimagined series from the then Sci-Fi Channel) will begin reairing on BBC America at 7 PM

NOTE: The two-part mini-series as well as all 80 hours of the series has been picked up for reairing on the cable network.

June 19 – The new TNT series Falling Skies will have a two-hour debut at 9 PM (then the show will move to its regular timeslot on Sundays at 10 PM the following week)

Show Synopsis: Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi drama stars Noah Wylie (ER) and Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) who become members of the resistance after an alien invasion. The show co-stars Drew Roy (Hannah Montana), Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender) and Will Patton.

June 19 – Drop Dead Diva will return for a new season on Lifetime at 9 PM

June 19 – Join PBS for the airing of the first movie Poirot XI at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: David Suchet returns as suave Belgian super-sleuth Hercule Poirot in a brand new mystery based on the novels by Agatha Christie. This is the first of three planned movies.

June 21 – The new ABC drama Combat Hospital will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The series is set in 2006 at the only military hospital providing advanced surgical care in all of Southern Afghanistan, and charts the frantic lives of the hospital’s resident doctors and nurses from Canada, America, the U.K. and other allied countries. The series stars Elias Koteas (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Michelle Borth (Hawaii Five-0 and The Forgotten) and Luke Mably (The Gates).

June 23 – The Canadian drama Rookie Blue will be back on ABC with its 2nd season at 10 PM

June 23 – Burn Notice will be back on the USA Network at 9 PM followed by the debut of the new series Suits at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: One of Manhattan’s top corporate lawyers Gabriel Macht (Love and Other Drugs) sets out to recruit a new hotshot associate and hires the guy who impresses him – a brilliant but unmotivated college dropout (Patrick J. Adams from Weather Girl). Though he isn’t actually a lawyer, this legal prodigy has the book smarts of a Harvard law grad and the street smarts of a hustler. However, in order to serve justice and save their jobs, both these unconventional thinkers must continue the charade. The cast includes Gina Torres (Firefly), Meghan Markle (Fringe) and Rick Hoffman (Samantha Who?).

June 25 – The Syfy movie Swamp Shark will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Kristy Swanson, D.B. Sweeney and Robert Davi star in the story of mutant sharks terrorizing the Louisiana bayous.

June 26 – The TNT series Leverage will be back with new episodes at 9 PM

June 26 – True Blood will be back on HBO for its 4th season at 9 PM

June 26 – Join PBS for the airing of the second movie Poirot XI at 9 PM

June 27 – The Big C will air its second season premiere on Showtime

June 29 – Royal Pains will be back with new episodes at 9 PM followed by the premiere of the new USA Network series Necessary Roughness at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: Tough sexy Long Island divorcee (Callie Thorne from Rescue Me) who re-energizes her life and career when she becomes the therapist for a professional football team. Underestimated at every turn, she succeeds beyond all expectations and soon finds herself the most-sought after therapist for high-profile clients. The cast includes Marc Blucas (Buffy), Mehcad Brooks (True Blood) and Scott Cohen (Gilmore Girls).
