The popular Canadian series Being Erica, which has aired here in the States courtesy of SOAPnet for its entire run (thus far), will be back on the network for the series’ third season starting on Wednesday January 26 at 11 PM.

Erin Karpluk stars in 'Being Erica'

Fans have been chomping at the bit to find out what fate has in store for Erica Strange (the delightful Erin Karpluk) as she decided, at the end of season two, to face whatever awaits her on the other side of the strange hallway surrounded by different doors that her mysterious therapist Dr. Tom (Michael Riley) introduced to her.

But to step back for a moment, let’s learn a little about the much-buzzed about series that not only brought over half a million new viewers to SOAPnet during its first season, but also reached 3 million viewers in season two.

Erica Strange is a thirty-something woman, who should have it all, but the fates – or whatever is controlling her life – just haven’t been on her side. She has big dreams and big hopes, but her life – or more importantly the experiences and decisions she has made throughout her life – have seemingly conspired against her.

Erica’s life is drastically changed when she has an unusual encounter with “therapist” Dr. Tom – who upon each visit sends her traveling through time to relive a particular moment in her life. In these “do-overs” she is given a chance to relive a past regret and come back to her life to make a positive change in her present.

During the past two seasons, Erica landed a job that she was starting to love only to be fired, attempted to start a new business with her former boss and frenemy Julianne (Reagan Pasternak), connected with her friends, family and co-workers in ways she never expected, ended up dating her long-time best friend Ethan (Tyron Leitso) only to lose him and found a kindred spirit – someone else who has his own therapist and travels through his life to right past regrets – in the form of Kai (Sebastian Pigott).

As season three unfolds, viewers will see Erica emerge as a more confident woman on the path to forging a new identity; but what will she find behind whatever door she picks? And, once she goes through that door, where will her adventures lead her? Tune in to SOAPnet on January 26 at 11 PM to find out.
