Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated Goes to Comic Con

Note: Genevieve is our 11-year-old special correspondent. She attended the Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated panel and interviewed the creative team in the pressroom at Comic Con 2010.

Scooby Doo is back in town! Lots of questions had been popping up, “Do the kids have parents?”, “Do they have to go to school?”, and “How old are they?” Well, we have found that Fred and Shaggy are 17, Daphne is 16, and Velma is 15.

Big news! Shaggy and Velma are now boyfriend and girlfriend, and Fred and Daphne are taking a fancy to each other. In this season, Shaggy is going back and forth being friends with Scooby Doo and being Velma’s boyfriend. In one episode Shaggy decides he wants to go to the prom with Velma instead of watching a marathon of his favorite show with Scooby, so Scooby gets mad at him. Last I saw Shaggy was said he was sorry to Scooby and said he didn’t care about any old girl. Here’s a sad sad part, Velma was standing right behind the mystery machine and was apparently listening to every word they said.

Do you want to know something cool? Fred’s dad is the mayor of the town. When we left the panel we got two collectable Mystery Dolls. One was Fred, and another was a Scooby Doo that glows in the dark and holds your magnifying glass.

I asked a fan (my little sister Elizabeth) what she likes most about each main character. She thinks the thing that stands out most about Daphne is her choice of clothing, Elizabeth thinks Fred is the boldest and the leader. She also says that Shaggy and Scooby are the pibbits of the group (pibbit means a mixture of a pig and rabbit). She also thinks Velma is like Jeannette (one of the Chippettes), because she is funny and smart.

Now here are some questions and some answers to go with them from the Scooby Doo Pressroom and Panel.

Q: What would Scooby do if there was a Scooby snack on a monster?
A: He would attack the monster and probably rip off the mask.

Q: What would Shaggy do if there was a Scooby snack on the monster?
A: He would take that monster down.

Q: What do Scooby snacks taste like?
A: They taste horrible! They are made out granola and some other stuff.

Q: How come Shaggy and Scooby eat so much, but they never get fat?
A: Shaggy and Scooby are always scared, So they are always running around burning calories.
