They Deserve Their Own Show (Part 24)
Here is the next installment of actors and actresses who are under-appreciated, deserving of more attention or perhaps even their own show:
Emmanuelle Vaugier – Emmanuelle has a long resume of guest roles in shows like First Wave, Viper, Seven Days, Charmed, Veronica Mars, North Shore, Supernatural and Big Shots. She had a recurring, albeit short, run on Smallville and was the original lead in the movie Painkiller Jane. She has had recurring roles on One Tree Hill, Two and a Half Men and CSI: NY as well. She has also appeared in the box office movies 40 Days and 40 Nights, Secondhand Lions, Saw II and Saw IV. She will appear in the thriller Hysteria with Cheyenne Jackson and Laura Allen, and the movies Hollywood Untitled with Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty) and American Empire (rumored to star Jeremy Piven).
Mae Whitman – Mae is best known for her early roles in Independence Day (as the President’s daughter), Hope Floats (as Sandra Bullock’s daughter), and recurring roles in Chicago Hope and JAG. She was then the lead in the TV series State of Grace and went on to have recurring roles in Arrested Development and Thief. She was Becca Sommers in the original pilot of Bionic Woman, but the role was recast before it aired on TV. She will be seen in the movies Spring Breakdown and Barry Munday. She also has numerous productions in the works, including The Factory, Regionrat, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Lunchers. She will also be seen next year in the NBC drama called Parenthood alongside Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia and Monica Potter. Her voice will also be featured in animated movies Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Firedog and Tinker Bell: A Midsummer Storm. Mae was also recently seen in the Lifetime movie Acceptance and she will appear in the new NBC drama Parenthood that is to begin in 2010.
Nora Zehetner – Nora first got noticed as Laynie Hart in the WB’s hit series Everwood and then caught the attention of the indie world in the movie Brick. Her big break, however, came in the first season of Heroes where she played Eden McCain. She then appeared as the lead in the ABC Family Channel movie Princess and will can be seen in the movies The Brothers Bloom with Mark Ruffalo, Adrian Brody and Rachel Weisz and in Spooner with Matthew Lillard. She is currently starring as one of the Mercy West doctors on Grey’s Anatomy.
Christopher Wiehl – Christopher is probably best known to folks for his recurring role in the short-lived series Jericho, but he started out in guest spots on JAG, Space: Above and Beyond, Dark Skies, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Early Edition, Popular, Charmed, ER, Touched By An Angel and Birds of Prey. He appeared in the short-lived series First Monday, Love Monkey and Playmakers. Most recently he has been seen in Private Practice, Psych, CSI: Miami, Las Vegas and Without A Trace. He was also in the made-for-TV movie Moonlight and Mistletoe. He has also recently been seen in an episode of Medium.
Eric Winter – Eric is best known for his role in Days of Our Lives, but turned heads in the ABC Family Channel series Wildfire before appearing in a number of episodes of Brothers & Sisters. He had a role in the extremely short-lived CBS series Viva Laughlin, made several appearances in Moonlight and was featured in an episode of The Ex-List. He recently appeared in the box office movie The Ugly Truth, starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler.
Jack Yang – Jack started out in modeling but quickly moved on to guest spots in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, CSI: Miami and Scrubs. He made several appearances in Nip/Tuck, Grey’s Anatomy and the short-lived series Cashmere Mafia. He then had a role in the made-for-TV movie Samurai Girl. Since then he has appeared in episodes of Knight Rider, Chuck and The Unit. His movie work includes Seven Pounds and he has done voice work for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising. He will be involved in the Will Smith produced The Seat Filler and will be part of the Playstation 2 game True Crime: Streets of LA.
