They Deserve Their Own Show (Part 17)
Here is the next installment of actors and actresses who are under-appreciated, deserving of more attention or perhaps even their own show:
Sophia Myles – Most viewers will recognize Sophia as Beth Turner from the short-lived CBS series Moonlight or even the movie Tristan and Isolde with James Franco, but she made a name for herself in the Underworld movies and in the unforgettable “The Girl in the Fireplace” episode of Doctor Who. She has also appeared in the movies Thunderbirds, Foyle’s War; the TV movies Mansfield Park and Dracula and in the recent box office movies Outlander and Hallam Foe.
Brooke Nevin – Some of Brooke’s earliest work includes Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? She then landed a role in the TV series Animorphs and later made appearances in Doc, Charmed, Without A Trace, Smallville, Supernatural and Everwood. She also starred in the USA Network series The 4400. She will be seen in the indie movie Sherman’s Way and appeared in the made-for-TV movie Come Dance at My Wedding with John Schneider and Roma Downey. She also appeared in several episodes of the short-lived comedy Worst Week and will be seen in an upcoming episode of NCIS.
Jaime Ray Newman – Jaime started out in General Hospital then moved on to Stargate: Atlantis, E-Ring, Veronica Mars and Lincoln Heights. She has appeared in the TV movies McBride: Murder Past Midnight and Under the Mistletoe alongside Michael Shanks and was in the big screen movie Made of Honor. She is now one of the leads in the new ABC series Eastwick and she will appear in the horror flick The Gauntlet.
Anthony Montgomery – Anthony made his name in (Star Trek) Enterprise as Ensign Travis Mayweather, but he first caught viewers attention in the short-lived WB series Popular. He also had guest roles in JAG, Frazier, House, Charmed, NCIS and Boomtown. What some folks may not know is that Anthony released his debut album last fall and can be seen in the movie Why Am I Doing This?.
Michael Muhney – Before landing his role as Sheriff Lamb in Veronica Mars, Michael appeared on the shows ER, Boomtown, JAG, Charmed, Without A Trace and Numb3rs. He also had a part in the TV mini-series A Will of Their Own that starred Lea Thompson and Thomas Gibson. He will be seen in the Val Kilmer movie Columbus Day, The Portal with Michael Madsen and Stacy Keach and a thriller called Disconnect. He also recently appeared in the daytime soap The Young & the Restless.
Alex O’Loughlin – Alex appeared in the lead role in the short-lived CBS series Moonlight. But he has done other work, including the acclaimed Australian movies Mary Bryant and Oyster Farmer. Once he came to America he was seen in the movies The Invisible, August Rush and he had a blink and you miss him appearance in the movie The Holiday. His big break was in The Shield alongside Michael Chiklis before getting cast in Moonlight. He appeared in one episode of Criminal Minds last year and he will soon be seen in the new CBS drama Three Rivers (it is too soon to know if this new show will succeed). His long-in-gestation movie Whiteout with Gabriel Macht and Kate Beckinsale was released last month, and, he just recently finished filming the movie The Back Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez.
