Louise's Lounge

To H!

I know I’ve talked about the people that I’ve had the privilege of meeting from far and wide, but today’s a bit different with regards to my friends from online. One of my closest friends and I met on this day three years ago, and I need to celebrate that with all of you. In part, because without him, I wouldn’t be working with this site, and in part because he’s been a huge part of who I’ve become as a TV fan.

It all started with a conversation about Aaron Sorkin, and has lead to many conversations that I never imagined on that Saturday night in Burbank I’d ever have.

While talking to a friend as she smoked a cigarette, we happened on another con-goer who loved Sorkin. He also happened to be working on Sorkin’s newest show, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which my other friend and I had been discussing. When left with this guy—who I knew very little about—we kept talking about some of the talent at the con, and eventually became friends through LiveJournal and talked when we had the time after that night. He was busy working, I was busy with life, but eventually we kept talking, and meeting when we had the chance to cement him as one of my closest friends.

What happened after is filled with many more crazy stories, some fantastic times with Beth Anne and Melissa, and many more with our other friends in Los Angeles. But, had it not been for a faithful moment late at night at a hotel in Burbank, I wouldn’t have had the absolute pleasure of H’s presence in my life.

Without him, I’d be a very different person when it comes to how I watch TV, and without plenty of good behind the scenes stories. It’s H who finally convinced me to watch Doctor Who, and he’s responsible for me finally watching all of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I’ll leave with a toast to H: here’s to three years so far, and many more to come.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
