Failing in 3D

By  |

Normally, I’m all for innovative TV watching, which should explain why I watch so much each year, but there’s been one example of “new” viewing that fell flat.

NBC chose to air Monday’s Chuck in 3-D. Normally, I’d be all about the spy world being forced at me more than is normal, but the truth is that I didn’t enjoy watching the last episode that way.

Truth be told, when I watched the Super Bowl commercials in 3D, I wasn’t that impressed. The glasses felt odd and I only saw a few things actually pop out at me. I feared that the episode would be much the same, and as soon as I started to watch, I felt justified.

This is not to say that the episode wasn’t good (it had moments that made me laugh, which I know the show is always good for), but the technology of the having parts in 3D didn’t leave me singing in the end.

I will give the show credit for the knife flying at me, and for the added dimensions to the credits, but otherwise, I kept the glasses off and just dealt with the blue and yellow lines all around my favorite characters.

From this one blogger to NBC’s eyes, please don’t try that again. It was a cool idea, but it pretty much feel flat.
