Not Again

In an article posted today by Variety, a SAG strike might be on the horizon. After the WGA strike last year, I’d really like to not have the industry fall one more time (not that I agree with the AMPTP stance, mind you.)

All of the Nice Girls like television and movies (why would we blog about them?), but the strike from last year did plenty of damage to the Film and Television industries. On the one hand, I did have time to be exposed to more shows, but it also meant that the shows I watched last year were cut short.

With how much I’ve been loving the work of all of those shows this year, I’d like to see this strike not come to fruition. Especially since, unlike the WGA strike, a SAG strike will end production on all shows (and movies) until a resolution is found. That means an end to all of those stories I’m dying to see finished (exact examples would take too long to list) until AMPTP and SAG come to an agreement. (If as the Variety article purports, the AMPTP isn’t complying with the terms of the WGA contract, I see this being a long fight to insure a better agreement for this union.) It also would mean a premature end to all of the stories I want to see told in all of those shows not in production (should you put off what the hell is going on in Weeds, I’m not going to be a happy camper. Same goes for Mad Men or any of those shows on in the summer that keep my attention on my TV and not the movie screen.)

All of that said, let’s all hope that this move by the SAG doesn’t go any farther than a show of force to the AMPTP. Keep your fingers crossed and keep knocking on wood.
