THE MINDY PROJECT: Five favorite things about “Nurses’ Strike”

By  |

This week on Hulu’s The Mindy Project, nurses Morgan, Tamra and Colette decide to go on strike after Mindy, Jeremy and Jody ignore their requests that they be able to join a nurses union. Mindy is also dealing with Leo being sick and figuring out a way to purchase the upstairs apartment from Jody now that he’s put it on the market after being rejected by Mindy. Oh, and did we mention there’s a cute new guy on the scene who happens to be the nurse of Leo’s pediatrician and the one leading the nurses strike? There’s never a dull moment in the world of Mindy Lahiri and while I could easily talk about the show forever, here are my five favorite things from this week’s episode (in no particular order):

1. Bryan Greenberg’s new character, Ben.
Despite Mindy rejecting both Danny and Jody last week in favor of being on her own for awhile, there’s a new guy on the show this week and boy is he charming! As a One Tree Hill fan, I’ve enjoyed watching Bryan Greenberg on screen for years and was delighted when it was announced that he was joining the show. It was great seeing his character Ben face off against Mindy but then soften towards her and help her out with a sick Leo and the pair end up bonding over being single parents. While it was platonic, I sense that the show is slowly setting things up for these two to become a couple. Ben is different to the other guys Mindy has dated so I am keen to see where this goes!

2. The growth of Mindy Lahiri.
In this episode, we went from Mindy not realizing what the purpose of a union was and refusing to pay her nurses out of her pocket, to accepting that as a parent you will always do whatever you can to support your child, even if it’s something that you don’t really want to do. Which brings me to my third thing…

3. The return of Brendan Delausier
It’s always a treat when either of the Delausier brothers pop onto the show. There’s something so delicious about watching the midwives face off against the Schulman and Associates doctors. (Case and point, Mindy’s line in this episode: “What are you doing here? Trying to get us to use mushrooms as tampons?“) Now with Mindy signing on to be their on-call OB/GYN, I for one am looking forward to seeing more “clashes”. Let the hilarity ensue!

4. The fact that Mindy ran into a hot dog cart while playing Pokémon Go.
A hot dog cart tipped over on me I’ll have you know.” Enough said.

5. The ever-present delicateness that is Jeremy Reed.
This week the doc confesses that not only does he wearing hidden pearls, but the reasoning behind it is that it is reminder for him to stay strong like his idol Margaret Thatcher. Bless.

New episodes of The Mindy Project are released on Hulu every Tuesday.
