Women of the Week

By  |

Fall TV is back and so is Women of the Week. Each week we will pick our favorite stand out performances from the prior week in TV and share them with you.

If you have your own Women of the Week be sure to share with us in the comments.

Kylie Bunbury as Ginny Baker on Pitch
Nominated by Roz: As the world’s first woman in the MLB, is a hard place to fit in, especially with a poor excuse for a locker room and teammates who hate the idea of her. But there’s something in Ginny’s determination, as worked through with all of those pitches in the cage, that makes me want to root for her and see her succeed.

Kristen Bell as Elanor Shellstrop on The Good Place.
Nominated by Ange: It’s so nice to see Kristen Bell back on our screens regularly, and even better in a smart show. Let’s face it, Eleanor Shellstrop was a pretty terrible person, yet there is something about KB’s performance that makes you not write her off as a villain and actually feel and relate to her. (No, I’ve never tried to scam the elderly but that situation of being surrounded by perfect people and do-gooders, I’m sure we’ve all felt that.) The comedic elements and wit that KB brings to Eleanor humanizes her and I can’t wait to see more!

Jaimie Alexander as Jane Doe on Blindspot
Nominated by Leah: Yes, I know she is no longer Jane Doe, but that is what I am sticking with. Jaimie’s portrayal is just amazing. She kicks ass (literally) and is also in turn completely vulnerable. It is an interesting combination and I love it. Every week she is fighting along side a team that doesn’t want her around and I get completely wrapped up in her performance. I look forward to it every week.

Leah reads constantly, sing incessantly and watches TV what her Mother would consider an unhealthy amount. You can find her on twitter @IamPollyP or contact her via email at leah@nicegirlstv.com
