ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago Fire 4×02 And Chicago P.D. 3×04 Recap

By  |

This week’s Chicago P.D. had a whole lot of action being a two hour episode, but before we talk about this week’s events of the One Chicago world, let’s catch up on what happened last week with the ladies of Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D . (Yes, I was a bit slack on the recap last week. Sorry!)

Gabriela Dawson: Now that Casey knows that Dawson is pregnant, the pair have reunited and are trying to figure out what to do next. After the close call last episode, Dawson opts to leave Firehouse 51 and transfer to the Arson division, but the pair decide to keep the news about her pregnancy a secret. This plan doesn’t exactly stick when Dawson goes to resign and Chief Boden questions why and thus the truth is blurted out. Despite the request to keep the news quiet, it isn’t long before the rest of Firehouse 51 and even Dawson’s new colleagues at Arson have heard the news. Speaking of Arson, Dawson immediately throws herself into her work, which happens to be the crackhouse fire that Firehouse 51 were on the job for in the season premiere. As Dawson does further digging, she realises that things don’t add up, but her new boss gently tells her that 9 out of 10 cases don’t get closure in the end because finding proof is just too hard.

Sylvie Brett and Jessica ‘Chili’ Chilton: This week the paramedics respond to a call on the beach where a man has had a heart attack. The girls shock him several times and thankfully manage to revive him (although they accidentally knock out his hysterical fiance when she stupidly was touching him while they yelled “clear”). When they take him to the hospital (where they are greeted by Chicago Med nurse April, who also appears at Molly’s at the end of the episode), they end up checking on the baby from the season premiere. It’s obvious that Brett is getting a bit attached and it doesn’t help when she finds out that no family has showed up to visit the newborn yet. Chili has warned her partner about getting attached, so hopefully Brett stays strong!

Erin Lindsay: Lindsay seems to be doing well (is it just me or was that the fastest recovery from drugs and alcohol ever?) – she’s kicking butt on the job and seems to be on good terms with Dr Charles. More importantly, Voight trusts her once again and even lets her move back into her apartment. She’s not the only one happy about this – so is her partner Halstead (and us!).

Trudy Platt: Sgt Platt first pops up in Chicago Fire this week, drinking at Molly’s with firefighter boyfriend Mouch. On P.D., she’s her usual sharp and dry witted self (especially to Burgess and Roman) and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Kim Burgess: Burgess was a little quiet on the storyline front last episode, but she definitely makes up for it in this episode. When Burgess discovers that her finance Ruzek has previously been engaged not once but twice, she becomes pretty concerned. So concerned that she asks partner Roman for advice, which I personally think was not a great move. I mean out of all the people, Roman? (No offence man.) His reaction is not the one Burgess was hoping for, especially when he then goes on to suggest that perhaps Ruzek likes the thrill of being engaged better than the result. Roman then suggests that Burgess try the “Push Test” on Ruzek, which involves her telling Ruzek that she wants to push the wedding date back and if he protests then you know he’s in it for the long haul, but if he agrees it means that he’s not that sincere about getting married. Why you would listen take Roman’s advice and play these silly games instead of being upfront and sharing your concerns with your fiance is beyond me Burgess! Anyway, she does do the Push Test on Ruzek and he agrees with her to push the date back. (When you tell him the reason why you want to push it is so you can have more time and make it less stressful, of course he’s going to agree!) Uh-oh.

Chicago Fire airs Tuesday at 10/9c and Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c, both on NBC.
