Roz

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.

GLEE: Talking to the TV During “Pot o’ Gold”

Oh hello Lima! I’ve missed you in the last month! But, that also means I’ve had a month of missing my snarky moments as I watch [easyazon-link asin=”B005OHT2DU”]Glee[/easyazon-link]. Let’s see how well this plays out as I talk to the TV during “Pot o’ Gold”. I’m not sure I understand the need for an Irish student who has Brittany smitten, …

COMMUNITY: Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps

To be a truly Community Halloween, something awkward must occur at Greendale before our group can truly embrace the holiday. This year it starts out with a horribly lame pre-party that Britta is organizing, before it devolves into her trying to figure out who is the most likely to be a homicidal person, based on the results of a psych …

COMMUNITY: Remedial Choas Theory & Jeff Is a Conniving Jerk

Community presented a mind-boggle with this week’s alternate timelines episode. We’re finally introduced to Troy and Abed’s (or Trobed’s) new apartment as they host a housewarming party. It starts out with a random joke about if their new apartment was 303 or 304 (the actual episode this season) and what comes next is nothing but what felt like an extended …

COMMUNITY: “Competitive Ecology” and Outsider Todd

Community went for character study this week, and it didn’t quite work. Instead we’re getting to Chang’s scary new life in the boiler room, with a mannequin leg named Veronica, who he seems to have fallen in love with (is that a Lars and the Real Girl shout out?). Then we move to the group walking to Biology, where Pierce is …

GLEE: “Asian F” Gets Emotional

It’s another week of Glee and, I’m sure another week where I’ll find something that makes no sense. Let’s dive right in and start before I get the better of myself and go for a very stiff drink. No teacher should ever tell his students it’s about doing their best or doing better when it comes to something like an …

COMMUNITY: “Geography and Global Conflicts” and Annie 2

It’s another week and another class at Greendale. This time Annie is making a foray into a political science class, with Professor Cligoris (played by the lovely Martin Starr, whom I’ve loved in Party Down and Freaks and Geeks) joining the Community roster of instructors. Starting off an episode with historical references already has me in a good mood. Plus …

COMMUNITY: Biology 101 Recap

Firstly, welcome back, Greendale! I’m so glad that you’re back to being crazy and providing me with an endless stream of inside jokes that relate to all of the other shows I already watch. For a season opener, I’m all for the absurd, and when it comes to Community, I’m never disappointed by what the show can pull together. Case …

GLEE: The Purple Piano Project Recap

I watch Glee with a fair amount of cynicism, but you know, that’s all because I’m involved with schools to know that nothing actually works like this. Of course, in the season premiere, “The Purple Piano Project” at least one of my main gripes about high school shows was answered: we at least figured out what grades half the kids …

Days before the penultimate episode of Bones, some of the cast along with the Executive Producers greeted fans at the Los Angeles branch of the Paley Center for Media. The audience was treated to a screening of the May 12 episode (worry not, there are no spoilers here) before a panel discussion that confirmed so much about the cast and …
