UPFRONT NEWS: CBS Fall 2018-19 Schedule and Trailers

It’s that time of year again when the networks make their annual presentations in New York to the advertisers where they announce their proposed fall line-up and announce the new shows they have picked up.

Here is the breakdown for CBS:

MONDAY

8 PM – The Neighborhood *
8:30 PM – Happy Together *
9 PM – Magnum P.I. *
10 PM – Bull (New Night and Time)

Magnum P.I. – This is a modern take on the classic series starring Jay Hernandez (The Expanse and Suicide Squad) as Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. A charming rogue, an American hero and a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, Magnum has Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks from Penny Dreadful) and her Dobermans to keep him in line, as well as his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors TC (Stephen Hill from Luke Cage) and Rick (Zachary Knighton from Happy Endings) when he needs back-up on a job.

FBI – The series focues on the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. These first-class agents bring all their talents, intellect and technical expertise to tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence, in order to keep New York and the country safe. The cast includes Missy Peregrym (Rookie Blue), Connie Nielson (Wonder Woman), Jeremy Sisto (Ice and Suburgatory), Ebonee Noel (Still Star-Crossed) and Zeeko Zaki (Valor and 24: Legacy).

God Friended Me – Brandon Micheal Hall (The Mayor) stars as Miles Finer, an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from God and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him. After repeated pokes by God, Miles’ curiosity takes over, and he accepts the ultimate friend request and follows the signs to Cara Bloom (Violett Beane from The Flash), an online journalist. Brought together by the “God Account,” the two find themselves investigating God’s friend suggestions and inadvertently helping others in need. The cast includes Joe Morton (Eureka and Scandal) and Suraj Sharma (Homeland and Life of Pi).

The following new dramas will air on CBS during mid-season:

The Red Line – The drama explores the events that transpire after a white cop in Chicago mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor. The series follows three different families that all have connections with the case as the story is told from each perspective. The cast includes Noah Wyle (Falling Skies and ER), Emayatzy Corinealdi (Hand of God) and Noel Fisher (Shameless and The Long Road Home).

The Code – The drama explores the military’s brightest minds as they take on the country’s toughest challenges — inside the courtroom and out — where each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator — and a Marine. The cast includes Anna Wood (Falling Water), Ato Essandoh (Copper), Raffi Barsoumian (The Vampire Diaries) and Phillipa Soo (Broadway’s Hamilton).

Using her favorite online handle, Rueben is an East Coast-bred gal who is now a permanent Californian and a lifelong tv-oholic. She watches at least 25 TV shows a week, goes to the movies as often as possible, listens to music every waking moment, reads every day and “plays” on the internet every chance she can. Some of her current favorite TV shows are Outlander, Sweet Magnolias, Wednesday, The Mandalorian, The Equalizer, Fire Country, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex, SkyMed, The Rookie, Bridgerton, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, The Witcher, Leverage: Redemption and School Spirits. She is looking forward to the fall TV season, including the return of Outlander, Tracker and The Equalizer and the debuts of the new dramas Matlock, Murder In a Small Town, NCIS: Origins and Cross.
