Character Assessment of Season Premiere: The Arrangement

By  |

The premiere episode of the second season of the E! Entertainment drama The Arrangement aired on Sunday night, picking up nearly where last season left off with Megan Morrison ready to take the Institute of the Higher Mind down for what they did to her. But just how much of her wrath will be waged against her fiancée, mega-superstar Kyle West, is anyone’s guess.

Let’s take a character assessment based on those featured in the season premiere, shall we?:

Megan Morrison

Reliving her horrendous experience at the hands of the seedier side of the Institute of the Higher Mind and the fact that Kyle allowed all of that to happen, Megan is once again thrust into the eyes of the paparazzi as she and Kyle head to their engagement dinner.

She’s putting on the role of a lifetime, acting like the loving, mind-warped disciple of IHM that Terence force fed on her – except she’s not. She is hell-bent on taking them down and she’ll do it any way she can; one small step at a time.

Her first target was\s Lisbeth, Kyle’s ex-fiancée. We quickly learned that Lisbeth isn’t all there; she isn’t completely right in the head. In fact, during her conversation with Megan she repeated herself. This isn’t a great way to start her investigation into IHM.

Kyle West

He knows that everything isn’t quite right with Megan, and while she gives him just enough information on how she feels about him to keep him on the leash, he is still in the dark about her true intentions.

He is also exerting himself where the movie Technicolor Highway is concerned. He stood up to the financiers – who wanted more representation of his character in the movie and also an altered ending that would change the entire feel of the movie to a direction that neither he nor Megan preferred. In fact, he decided not to appear in the film at all, but to just be its director.

Terence and Deann Anderson

They are one of the most dysfunctional couples who should NOT be a couple at all. Terence can’t keep his hands of the IHM interns and Deann has had a long-lasting affair with Mason, who I’m sure we will learn more about as the season wears on.

Honestly, I can’t stand Terence especially after what he put Megan through, and I’d love nothing more than to see her take him down so harshly. As for Deann, she has her faults, but I think she’d be better served by getting Terence out of her life completely.

Leslie Bellcamp

I feel bad for Megan’s agent, who has been doing everything she can to forward Megan’s career, but ever since she signed that damn contract with Kyle and IHM, Leslie has been getting shafted. The final straw was Megan visiting Leslie at the end of the episode, basically bringing their working relationship to an end.

Shaun and James

Shaun is Megan’s best friend – and also the newly appointed attorney for IHM. She’s playing both sides of the field, helping Megan bring IHM down and holding onto her new job so she can help Megan. No pressure – or danger – there, right? Enter the return of James, the IHM employee who Shaun had a brief fling with and who just might be their entrance into learning about the seedier side of IHM. But at what cost?
