Women of the Week
It may be the first week of 2018 but we’re off to a strong start with a number of women on screen making quite an impression. Read on to find out who we have chosen to kick start our Women of the Week for 2018…
Nominated by Lexie: Tiya Sircar as Vicky on The Good Place & the Women of #Times Up
I’m going to nominate Tiya Sircar this week because I really wanted Vicky to have a meatier arc as a villain on The Good Place. But also she did an Instagram takeover of The Good Place‘s account and she posted a picture with a puppy in it and that’s an auto-nomination from me. I hope it wasn’t too gooey in that pod.
On a more serious note, should we nominate the women in this article that all signed the #TimesUp manifesto?
Seconded by Melissa: The Women of #TimesUp
I second nominating the 300 women behind #TimesUp. They built on the work of the brave women who spoke up about rampant abuse and harassment and have created a mechanism to encourage and facilitate real change in Hollywood – and beyond.
Nominated by Ange: Tracy Spiridakos as Hailey Upton on Chicago P.D. & thirding the women of #TimesUp
As well as echoing the above nomination of those involved with #TimesUp, I’m also nominating Hailey Upton played by Tracy Spiridakos in Chicago P.D. Since the departure of Erin Lindsay, Upton has had some tough shoes to fill in Intelligence, particularly as the new partner to Jay Halstead. This week she certainly proved that she’s just as a good of partner as we saw her intervene to try and stop him from making reckless decisions and potentially blowing up his career, as well as covering for him with boss Voight. But what sealed Upton as a MVP this week was the final scene where she goes to see the woman that Halstead was involved him and strike a deal with her – keep her mouth shut about being involved with Halstead and she’ll get the charges dropped otherwise she can look forward to Upton burying her. Upton may be the new girl but she’s pretty tough and will do whatever it takes to protect those important to her.
