Renewal Notice: WHEN CALLS THE HEART

By  |

Fans of the new period piece drama When Calls the Heart have been rejoicing all day with the official announcement that the series has been renewed for a second season.

When Calls the Heart is based on the 2013 made-for-TV movie and on the story by Canadian author Janette Oke. It debuted on the Hallmark Channel back on January 11.

The series stars Daniel Lissing (Last Resort) and Erin Krakow (Army Wives), who took over the lead roles from the film, which was about a wealthy young Canadian girl who heads West to be a small coal mining town’s new school teacher and the town’s constable who was assigned to the town.

The series also stars Lori Loughlin (Full House), who appeared in the original made-for-TV movie and Chelah Horsdal (Lying to be Perfect and Hell on Wheels). Veteran actor James Brolin (Castle and Hotel) and soap veteran Jack Wagner (General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful) joined the cast for the final episodes that aired at the end of March.

An official air date for season two of When Calls the Heart has yet to be made, though.
