GRIMM: Tonight’s Season 2 Premiere Brings Family History, New Characters
Tonight is the much anticipated, season two premiere of NBC’s Grimm. The season kicks off with Bad Teeth. After their face-off with Kimura (guest star Brian Tee), Nick (David Giuntoli) finds himself trying to come to grips with the return of his mother, Kelly Burkhardt (guest star Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio). A trail of brutal murders unveils a foreign conspiracy to hunt down Nick, leading to several revelations about his past.
Meanwhile, Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) still lies in her mysteriously-induced coma as Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) work tirelessly to bring her out of it safely.
Elsewhere, Hank (Russell Hornsby) struggles with the shocking truths he’s recently seen and Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) deals with unexpected family issues when his estranged brother (guest star James Frain) comes back into his life. Reggie Lee also stars.
This season we’re going to find out all about the Royal families, their friends and enemies, and who served with them and who served to bring them down. The Grimm’s part in the ancient stories will be revealed, but is Nick your typical Grimm? I think season one already hinted that he is going to be a very different one altogether, surprising his mother, Kelly (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonia) and Captain Renard as well as many of the creatures his kind has hunted throughout the centuries.
“A long time ago, the world lived under the rule of self-serving Royal families. There were heroes and there were villains. Certain bloodlines possessed the gift of seeing a person’s true nature, giving them unparalleled ability to maintain harmony. Those who vied for power took advantage of these talented individuals by forcing them to rally the fiercest warriors behind their banner. One such bloodline achieved notoriety both through their unique practice of profiling malcontents, as well as their gruesome methods of issuing justice. Over time, the Royals’ control began to dissolve, and the accounts that originally served as warnings became nothing more than folk legend.
“Today the Grimm bloodline has a new emissary who has achieved his own notoriety by way of his uncharacteristic morals. Thanks in large part to an unlikely ally named Monroe, and a plethora of knowledge left to him by his late Aunt Marie, Nick Burkhardt has been rewriting his ancestors’ stories one case at a time. However, Nick is slowly learning he can’t rewrite the same happy endings. Sometimes the wrong person spots the wolf in sheep’s clothing, the son isn’t always the apple of his mother’s eye, and sleeping beauty doesn’t always awaken unscathed…” (NBC)
Will there be trouble between Kelly and her son? Can he get her to understand why he’s reinventing Grimms? What becomes of Juliette? Will she now be an agent of evil? I think actress Birsie Tulloch would really like that, especially if she gets to kick some butt.
The adventure begins tonight at 10/9c, in this one time only Monday night premiere event. After tonight, Grimm moves back to its Friday night time slot at 9/8c on September 21st.
Catch the premiere photos and all the video interviews with cast and crew, and catch up on season one in seven minutes, then tune in tonight for the ride of your life.
