Nice Boy of the Week: Alexander Skarsgard

By  |

Alexander Skarsgard burst on the scene when he starred in HBO’s mini-series, Generation Kill. He played Sargeant Brad “Iceman” Colbert in a story which followed the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion of the United States Marine Corps during the Iraq war. The three-time Emmy Award winning show brought a lot of attention to Skarsgard’s acting skills, and it was not long after finishing “Generation Kill” that he was named ‘Eric Northman’ in Alan Ball’s True Blood.  Already a fan favorite from Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire novels, Skarsgard brings Eric to life brilliantly, showing a range of acting skills we have come to expect from this young man.

Alexander began his career as a child actor in his home country of Sweden. He became disenchanted by all the attention he was receiving and quit at the age of 13. He would not return to acting for another seven years. in 1997 he took a theater class at Marymount Manhattan College and from there, decided to pursue an acting career.

Alexander continues to impress audiences with diverse roles in drama, romance and comedy. He is always on the look-out for roles that are interesting to him, including voice overs such as ‘Stefan’ in the dark, futuristic animated film, Metropia. Alexander’s latest projects include the controversial “Straw Dogs”, with James Marsden and Kate Bosworth, and “Battleship“, based on the popular Hasbro game and starring Liam Neesan, Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna. “Battleship” opens in theaters in the summer of 2012.
