First Responders Showdown: Round 2
We had so much fun with our first bracket tournament – King & Queen of Feel Good Movies – that we decided to keep going even though it’s no longer March Madness season.
With COVID-19 revealing just how important first responders are to our health and safety, this time around we’re featuring fictional firefighters and paramedics from several shows both current and past. During Round One, we selected 64 characters from series such as Chicago Fire, 9-1-1, Station 19, Rescue Me, and Third Watch, and with your votes, they have been narrowed down to 32 characters.
For the first time in running these bracket tournaments, we had a tie! Owen Strand of 9-1-1: Lone Star went up against Station 19‘s Dean Miller in Round 1, but both received the same amount of votes so we advanced both to Round 2. However, to break the stalemate, we put them in a three-way bracket against Station 19‘s Lucas Ripley. Who will advance to Round 3?
Also in this round, you’ll notice some faves from the same franchises ended up facing off with each other. You have some tough decisions ahead of you!
Before we get started, a few notes:
- Obviously there are more than 64 actors portraying first responders. To keep the field to 64 total, we limited contenders to main or recurring characters over a show’s run, including characters who died or left the show.
- Performers were paired randomly for Round 1 and the winners of each bracket were paired with someone in Round 2 who received similar votes. Round 3 brackets will be paired in a similar fashion to Round 2.
- We welcome your arguments on why voters should choose specific performers in the comments! Feel free to campaign for your faves on social media and be sure to tag us with our @nicegirlstv handle!
