STUMPTOWN Roundtable: All Hands on Dex

By  |

Stumptown fans! Join Nice Girls Lisa and Roz while we discuss this episode of Stumptown – “All Hands on Dex” which focused on the following:

To get justice, Dex takes matters into her own hands after finding herself at the forefront of a murder investigation where she’s the prime suspect. Meanwhile, Hoffman struggles to remain impartial in the investigation and could lose everything if he continues to help Dex. Elsewhere, Grey attempts to work on his budding relationship with his estranged father while a familiar face from the past makes a surprise visit.

The Good

Roz: Dex solved Benny’s death! I’m so glad that that story got a good sense of closure and we found out what drove Dex to act as she did all season.

Lisa: Yes! This episode was so good. I’m glad that Dex solved his murder and got some closure. I thought that the scene with Grey and Dex was very heartfelt when he told her that he and Ansel needed her (even though she ignored his warnings and left to find answers on her own). I also love how Tookie gave Ansel advice on how to get his girlfriend back. I really like how their relationship has evolved. It’s sweet!

The Bad

Roz: I hate a “Who’s at the Door?” cliffhanger. HATE! I would have rather just seen who Dex’s mother is than have to wait (or not find out at all because the show hasn’t been renewed or canceled yet) for that other big question.

Also, what’s the point of bringing in Grey’s dad if he’s only going to do something stupid and disappear again?

Lisa: Hoffman was stupid to trust his co-worker with such a secret! I knew she was going to snitch! Now he’s questioning his judgement for helping Dex and probably trusting her. I knew she was trouble for him from the start!

Final Thought

Roz: I find that we have too many unanswered questions for a finale when we don’t know its fate. I don’t want to needlessly worry about if Hoffman will come back or who Dex’s mother is if there’s no more show. In this crazy time, can’t we get something more closed-ended?

Lisa: I think this was a strong first season and I would be very disappointed if we don’t get a second season.  It seems like when shows are up in the air, they have a huge cliffhanger with the thought of “there is no way we will get cancelled after that huge cliffhanger” but unfortunately that isn’t always the case. There are so many unanswered questions, and storylines that the fans are invested in, I really hope Stumptown returns. I would also like  to say that this cast is fantastic and delivered stellar performances all season. Love this show!
