Good Witch Recap: “The Road Trip”

By  |

This Sunday’s episode of Good Witch focused on the Merriwick women taking off on a road trip to Cassie’s alma mater Wellingsley College for dual purposes – more on that shortly – while the men of Grey House took over the running of the bed and breakfast.

As we saw in last week’s episode, Grace was fretting over getting a rejection letter from her top choice college only to discover that Wellingsley College, where her mom Cassie attended and graduated, had accepted her. In an effort to see if that college was the right fit, mom and daughter – and cousin Abigail [who was seemingly trying to run away from her burgeoning feelings for Blairsville mayor Donovan Davenport] – went on a road trip.

It was also convenient that Cassie was being honored for her efforts in Holistic Medicine courtesy of one of the professors at Wellingsley, her old college chum Willow (played by guest star Kathy Najimy), who had a big decision to make about staying at the college, where she had a 20-year history but only one holistic medicine class or move on to a different college that was going to provide her a much broader course load.

The trip also gave Abigail a chance to figure out her feelings for Donovan. She met Matthew, the volleyball coach for Wellingsley, and while he seemed to be interested, and she wasn’t averse to the attention, she realized just how much she was coming to care for Donovan.

Meanwhile back in Middleton, Sam and Nick were working their own bit of magic on an overly dedicated dad and his teenage, violin-playing son. The son was there for an important audition; but the audition seemed to be more important to his dad. After faking a minor injury to his hand, the son – with some subtle nagging from Sam – came clean with his dad about his waning interest in the stringed instrument.

Elsewhere, hospital Chaplain Adam surprised Stephanie with a dinner date at her café – where she admitted that she and Vincent discovered they are better as business partners than anything else; and Stephanie later admitted to Martha that there is some great chemistry between her and Adam.

Speaking of Martha, she finally got her beloved mayoral job back while trying to make her new TV talk show a success; but she quickly realized that her role as mayor meant much, much more to her than her TV show so Mayor Martha it is.

In the end, Abigail hurried back to Donovan, sharing some much desired kisses; Grace decided to go to Wellingsley in the fall and Cassie learned that her friend Willow received a great offer from Wellingsley to further holistic medicine at the campus.
