WHISKEY CAVALIER Roundtable: The English Job

By  |

This week on Whiskey Cavalier:

While investigating suspicious robberies in London, Will hits it off with a sexy British spy, leaving Frankie with some unexpected feelings that she doesn’t know how to process. Meanwhile, Jai competes with Susan over who is more intelligent, and Standish deals with a case of shell shock.

Join us as we use our new ratings system known as SASSY – S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(Your Thoughts):

STUPID

Roz: What is with everyone figuring out their feelings just too late for something I want to happen? Frankie, you had a moment of clarity and see what it gets you: Will kissing the woman from MI6!

Leah: The idea that anyone on that team would embrace Ray is ridiculous. His character is completely annoying and his bro dude behavior is very off putting.

Rueben: I couldn’t stand the whole pulling a prank on Jai thing especially since they thought they could convince us that any of the team would accept Ray, and why did they even consider doing anything that involved him?! UGH!! But the crazy part is, I had a fleeting moment when the scene went to the sniper that I wondered if it’s Ray? Is that crazy?!

Cay: Ray is so annoying! Maybe he can fall off the roof the next time? And I wish they wouldn’t keep saying “spy”. I’m sure real spies do not say that. They could at least make up a euphemism.

AWESOME

Roz: Hey the Duchess of Sussex isn’t acting, but she got to be part of the episode! Though I’ll guess they wrote this before she announced the pregnancy since that woman didn’t look pregnant at all. That was a really different plot idea to have some group want to take down the stability of the British Royal Family.

Leah:Ophelia Lovibond is a favorite of mine so her being in the episode was fantastic. Also, unlike some shows we watch *cough* Blindspot and their never ending bomb plots *cough* Whiskey Cavalier has come up with an interesting, non-repeating case every week.

Rueben: I enjoyed Ophelia being in this episode too. That was fun. I liked the close quarters scenes between Will & Frankie as well. How funny was it to see Will and Frankie playing the nerdy auditors. I also gasped over that fall that Standish took.

Cay: Will as the payroll dork at the beginning was SO HOT! I’m assuming that was Lauren Cohen’s real accent, which is fun. I like the relationship between Susan and Will.

SO-SO

Roz: Why is Jai letting Ray get to him like this? He should know his own worth and not need that validation.

Leah:Jai is so insecure he let Ray get in his head? Maybe he isn’t that smart.

Rueben: I wrote in my notes, which I take during each viewing of a new episode, “blah” when it came to the prank on Jai. That whole storyline was just unnecessary to me.

Cay:The plot for this episode seemed a bit weaker than others, although I’m sure The Trust is going to come up again so this was mainly a setup for future episodes.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: So we finally have a big bad, and I’m so curious about them. Let’s see more of them please!

Leah:Still happy with the overall direction of the show. I like the will they won’t they tension between Frankie and Will. That coupled with the genuine friendship between Susan and Will makes for a good show…for me.

Rueben: I’m very curious how The Trust will play into the rest of the episodes. I’m also curious if Emma will appear again. It certainly seems that way, especially given the reaction Frankie had to that kiss. It’s okay for her but not okay for Will?

Cay: I was really getting Chuck vibes from this episode – repeated use of the word “spy”, relationship discussions in the middle of missions, new love interest to make Frankie jealous, etc.
