The following list provides the dates of the dramas that will debut, return or end on the major and cable networks as well as on streaming services AND the made-for-TV movies and so much more that will air all throughout August:
August 1 – The new period piece drama Chief of War will debut, airing its first two episodes, on Apple TV+ today
Show Synopsis: This epic series, executive produced and written by Jason Momoa, who is also the star, is set amidst the backdrop of the islands of Hawai’i, based on true events, following warrior Ka’iana (Momoa) as he tries to unify the islands before Western colonization in the late 18th century. The cast includes Temuera Morrison (who played Momoa’s father in the Aquaman movies) and Cliff Curtis [among others].

August 1 – The new Netflix movie My Oxford Year will debut online today
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Anna (Sofia Carson), an ambitious young American woman, sets out for the UK and the University of Oxford to fulfill a childhood dream, she’s got her life completely on track. That is, until she meets a charming and clever local named Jamie (Corey Mylchreest), who profoundly alters both of their lives.
August 1 – The new animated series Eyes of Wakanda will deubt online on Disney+ today
Show Synopsis: The new series follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. Voices will be provided by Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint and Anika Noni Rose.
August 2 – The new Hallmark Channel movie 3-part franchise movie Providence Falls: Chance of a Lifetime will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: In 1844 Ireland, a rogue falls for a squire’s daughter, altering her destiny. Angels send them to present-day Providence Falls to correct it. He must make her fall for another man, though she’s now a cop with no memory of their past lives. The cast includes Katie Stevens (The Bold Type), Lachlan Quarmby (The Watchful Eye), Evan Roderick (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries), Paul McGillion (Stargate: Atlantis) and Matty Finochio (Sight Unseen and Riverdale).
August 2 – The Lifetime movie Terri Blackstock’s If I Run will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Adapted from the best-selling book, the movie follows Casey Cox (Kat Graham from The Vampire Diaries), a woman on the run after discovering her best friend Brent has been murdered – and she is being framed for it. Not knowing who to trust, Casey flees, using her intelligence and resourcefulness to stay hidden and the signs of divine guidance to help her in her journey. Meanwhile, Dylan Roberts (Evan Roderick from Aurora Teagarden Mysteries), a war-weary veteran and private investigator with PTSD, is hired to track her down. As Dylan digs deeper into the case, he begins to suspect that Casey might actually be innocent and that the real story is far more complex – and dangerous – than it first appeared. James Tupper (Big Little Lies and The Hardy Boys) also stars.
August 3 – The linear debut of the Hallmark+ movie Aurora Teagarden: Death at the Diner will air on Hallmark Channel at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: A 33-year-old man (Okieriete Onaodowan from Hamilton and Station 19), on a mission of self-discovery and the burgeoning field of digital psychiatry that may be the key to defining his truest self. The cast includes Martin Lawrence, Janet Hubert, Caleb Eberhardt and Shakira Ja’nail Paye.
August 7 – The movie Grounded in Love will debut online on Great American Pure Flix today
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Annie (Danica McKellar), a spirited, Manhattan-based flight attendant, thrives on adventure and freedom, until an unexpected airline merger grounds her career and a breakup with a self-absorbed boyfriend leaves her questioning everything. Searching for clarity, Annie takes a road trip to her grandmother’s rural Kentucky farm – a place she hasn’t visited in years, though holds close to her heart. Nothing on the farm seems to have changed, except Jake (Trevor Donovan), Annie’s childhood friend who recently traded in fast-paced city life for something more intentional. As two old friends reconnect, Annie rediscovers what matters most – family, faith, community, and the kind of love that stays rooted when everything else seems uncertain.
August 8 – The much-anticipated debut of the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood will debut on Starz at 8 PM
Show Synopsis: The series will focus on two lead couples — Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy). It will bring viewers from the war-torn battlefields of WWI to the sweeping Highlands of 18th century Scotland, promising two new love stories filled with loyalty, passion and desire, as the young couples defy the forces that seek to tear them apart. The cast includes Tony Curran, Rory Alexander, Sam Retford, Seamus McLean Ross and Conor MacNeill.
August 8 – The (unexpected) series finale of Resident Alien will air at 10 PM on both Syfy and the USA Network
August 9 – The second franchise movie Providence Falls: An Impossible Promise will debut on Hallmark Channel at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Detectives Cora and Liam (Katie Stevens and Lachlan Quarmby), who are investigating a murder while also navigating a love story that spans centuries. Liam, who is Cora’s reincarnated love from the past, is tasked with helping Cora find her fated match from their past life. The cast also includes Evan Roderick (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries), Paul McGillion (Stargate: Atlantis) and Matty Finochio (Sight Unseen and Riverdale).
August 9 – The Lifetime movie Finding Faith will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Struck by a sudden death of her husband, Faith (Paula Patton) spirals out of control and loses her trust in God. But with the unwavering support of her family, pastor and close friends, Faith starts to find her way out of the darkness and into the light, rebuilding her life one step at a time. The movie also stars Loretta Devine, Stephen Bishop, Nadine Velazquez, Demetrius Grosse and Keith David.
August 10 – The second season of The Chicken Sisters will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM
August 10 – The finale of The Gilded Age will air on HBO at 9 PM
August 11 – The first two episodes of the six-part murder mystery series Irish Blood will debut online on Acorn TV today
Show Synopsis: Alicia Silverstone stars as Fiona, whose path in life is earmarked by her father, Declan (Jason O’Mara from The Man In The High Castle and The Good Wife), who seemingly abandoned her and her mother on her tenth birthday. After years of channeling anger toward him, to the benefit of her litigious clients, a message from her father sends her to Ireland. There she learns key truths about her father as well as a family that doesn’t know she exists, and, moreover, that the story of abandonment that has shaped her entire life – was a lie. A lie intended to protect her and her mother from her father’s shady business dealings. Fiona resolves to uncover the full truth about her father and reconnect with the parent she only thought she knew. Wendy Crewson also stars.
August 12 – The new sci-fi thriller Alien: Earth will debut its first two episodes on FX on Hulu as well as on linear TV via FX at 8 PM
Show Synopsis: When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat. In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined. The cast includes Timothy Olyphant, Kit Young, Babou Ceesay and Essie Davis [among others].
August 13 – The new action-adventure series Butterfly will debut online on Amazon Prime today
Show Synopsis: The character-driven spy thriller explores complex family dynamics within the treacherous world of global espionage, centering on David Jung (Daniel Dae Kim), an enigmatic, highly unpredictable former US intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him, and Caddis, the sinister spy organization she works for. The cast includes Piper Perabo and Charles Parnell [among others]
August 14 – The Syfy thriller Revival will air its finale at 10 PM
August 14 – The finale of And Just Like That… will air on HBO MAX online today
August 15 – The new series The Rainmaker, based on the best-selling John Grisham novel, will debut on the USA Network at 10 PM
Show Synopsis: Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan from The Spanish Princess and Rivals), fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (John Slattery from Mad Men) as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah (Madison Iseman from the new Jumanji film reboots). Rudy, along with his boss, Bruiser, and her disheveled paralegal, Deck, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son. The show also stars P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs and Robyn Cara.
August 15 – The finale of Smoke will air online on Apple TV+ today

August 16 – The third and final movie in the franchise Providence Falls: Thief of Fate will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM

August 17 – The final two episodes of the drama Nautilus will air online on AMC+ and on AMC at 9 PM
August 17 – The Hallmark Channel movie Mystery Island: Play for Keeps will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Mystery Island hosts a corporate retreat with a guest being Emilia’s ex-fiancé. Old feelings become complicated, tensions run high, and allegations arise when a guest is found dead. The movie franchise stars Elizabeth Henstridge and Charlie Weber.
NOTE: The movie was delayed from June 5.
August 20 – The new limited series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox will debut online on Hulu today
Show Synopsis: The series is inspired by the story of how Amanda Knox (Grace Van Patten) was wrongfully convicted for the tragic murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free. The cast includes Sharon Horgan and Rebecca Wisocky.
August 20 – The new Amazon Prime movie The Map That Leads to You will debut online today
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Heather’s (Madelyn Cline) European adventure takes a turn when she meets Jack (KJ Apa), sparking an unexpected emotional journey neither of them saw coming. Josh Lucas also stars.
August 21 – The second season of Peacemaker will debut online today on HBO MAX
August 21 – The finale of the new drama Code of Silence will air online on Britbox today
August 21 – The new limited series Hostage will debut online today on Netflix
Show Synopsis: When the British prime minister’s husband is kidnapped and the French president starts receiving threats, both leaders must face an impossible choice. The cast includes Suranne Jones, Corey Mylcreest, Julie Delpy, Lucian Msmati, Ashley Thomas, James Cosmo and Jehnney Beth.
August 22 – The season three premiere of Foundation will air online on Apple TV+ today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Four irrepressible retirees (Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie) spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn when they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. The film also stars Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant and Richard E. Grant.
August 28 – The new AMC+ series Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story will debut online today
Show Synopsis: The series follows her ordeal after being drugged and kidnapped during a supposed photoshoot in Milan, and the subsequent media storm accusing her of staging the event. The show explores both her terrifying experience and the aftermath, including the court case and the public’s skepticism. The lead role will be played by Nadia Parkes.
August 28 – The finale of the 7th season of Hudson & Rex will air at 8 PM on UPtv
August 30 – The Hallmark Channel movie Catch of the Day will debut at 8 PM
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: On the eve of becoming a NY executive chef, Sophie (Emilie Ullerup) returns home to help her family’s flailing restaurant and runs into Cam (Michael Rady), an old crush who makes her question everything. The movie also stars Katie Lee Biegel.
August 30 – The new Great American Family series Crossroad Springs will debut at 8 PM
Show Synopsis: The series follows the Hamilton family, adult siblings James (Jonathan Stoddard) and Janet (Emily Alatalo), their aging family members, dad, Willis (Shaun Johnston), and Aunt Amy (Kate Drummond), who are eking out a living on Hamilton Ranch with financial hardships and staffing shortages. James, a pastor in Chicago, and Janet, an ER doctor in a neighboring town, feel called to return home to help the family. Once there, the siblings encounter the son of the owner of the neighboring farm, Daniel Newman (Jesse Hutch), who are all wary of each other due to a generational feud between the families. As he settles into his new day-to-day life on the farm, James begins to realize there are no places to worship on the thousands of acres of farms. There, in the environment of come-as-you-are vibes, barns, rodeo arenas, even outdoors under clear night skies, James starts a cowboy church right there in the place where faith, family, and ranch life go hand in hand. The cast includes Brittany Underwood, Jon McLaren, Erin Agostino and Franco Lo Presti.
