A Look at San Diego Comic Con 2025
What was once a favorite annual pastime for me – attending San Diego Comic Con – has, sadly, become a thing of the past, starting with the ramifications of COVID and, more recently, time and financial constraints.
But, I still look forward to when the schedule for the big fete in San Diego is released; and of course, all the reports and pictures that come from the major media outlets and everyday folks who get to attend the event as they start cropping up all over the internet.
In that vein, I checked out the 4-day schedule a few days ago and wanted to share some of the highlights of the TV shows, movies and other special events that will be taking place at the annual event.
Here are just some of the countless panels that will be held at the San Diego Convention Center and surrounding hotels from July 24 to July 27:
On July 24, the following TV shows will be taking the stage along with some, many or all of its cast members and the creative minds behind each one:
* Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Disney+)
* NCIS: Tony & Ziva (Paramount+)
* Twisted Metal (Peacock)
Then there will be these special panels:
* Comedians Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias and Jo Koy;
* Hallmark Hallstars – the cable network’s first time at the event, featuring Hallmark stars such as Chyler Leigh (Supergirl and The Long Way Home), Holland Roden (Teen Wolf), Luke Macfarlane (Killjoys), B.J. Britt (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD), Heather Hemmens (Roswell, New Mexico), Will Kemp (Reign), Tyler Hynes (Warehouse 13 and Letterkenny) and Erin Cahill (Holidazed);
* Collider’s Directors on Directing, featuring well known directors Rob Reiner and Paul Feig;
* Collider’s Women of IFC Entertainment Group, which will include appearances by Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone), Dafne Keen (Logan and His Dark Materials), Sophie Nelisse (Yellowjackets) and Alexandra Shipp (Barbie); and,
* The annual Her Universe Fashion Show.
The following upcoming box office movies will also be represented:
* The Strangers, Chapter 2, a new horror flick, that will star Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale) and Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent); and,
* Red Sonja, a new adaptation of the “She-Devil with a Sword” that stars Matilda Lutz and The Umbrella Academy alum Robert Sheehan.

On July 25, the following TV shows will be featured on stage:
* Resident Alien (Syfy and USA Network)
* Outlander (Starz)
* Revival (Syfy)
* Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Starz)
* Upload (Amazon Prime)
* The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (AMC)
* Alien: Earth (FX on Hulu)
* Gen V (Amazon Prime)
* Dexter: Resurrection (Showtime)
The following movies will be represented:
* Primitive War, a Vietnam War thriller, that will star Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Nick Wechsler (Roswell and Revenge) and Jeremy Piven;
* The Long Walk, which will be based on Stephen King’s first novel and directed by Francis Lawrence from The Hunger Games franchise;
* Predator: Badlands, the latest chapter in the legendary franchise that will star Elle Fanning; and,
* Tron: Ares, which will feature the cast and an exclusive first look at footage.
The following special presentations will also be held:
* TV Guide’s Fan Favorites; and,
* Collider’s Hollywood with Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul)
On July 26, the following TV shows will be featured on stage:
* Abbott Elementary (ABC)
* The Rookie (ABC)
* The Star Trek Universe, which will focus on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (Paramount+)
* Paradise (Hulu)
* Spartacus: House of Ashur (Starz)
* Ghosts (CBS)
* Peacemaker (HBO Max)
* Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, including Interview with the Vampire and Talamasca (AMC)
And, the following will also be represented that day:
* Project Hail Mary, the upcoming Ryan Gosling box office film;
* The Hillywood Show, the first teaser for their next parody will be screened along with a Q&A with creator Hilly Hindi and others; and,
* An Evening with Kevin Smith.
And, last but not least, on July 27, legendary filmmaker George Lucas (in his first ever appearance at the con), Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro and Academy Award-winning artist Doug Chiang will take the stage with the one and only Queen Latifah moderating.
