A Salute to Rising Stars
It’s that time again to salute those actresses who are on the move, actresses who deserve a little extra attention for their latest work, those actresses who are rising stars. Landing that crucial role in a TV movie or guest appearance in a successful show or film makes all the difference for aspiring actors.
Let’s take a look at the next group of actresses who viewers should keep their eyes on:
Lyric Ross
Lyric Ross is an American actress born in Illinois, who started acting when she was 5 years old, appearing in commercials and then in guest-starring roles in Chicago Fire and the short-lived comedy Sirens.
Then came her big break playing Deja Pearson in the megahit NBC series This Is Us, which she started while still in the 8th grade. During her time on that popular series, she also appeared in the 2018 movie Canal Street that included among its cast the likes of the late Lance Reddick, Mykelti Williamson, Michael Beach, Henry Lennix and Mekhi Phifer.
After This Is Us came to an end in 2022, she appeared in the box office movie The Class [a revised version of The Breakfast Club] alongside pop singer-turned actress Debbie Gibson and Brat Packer member Anthony Michael Hall. She also provided the voice for the character Katherine “Kat” Koniqua Elliot in the stop motion movies Wendell & Wild, Wendell and Wild Inside the Animation and Wendell and Wild Personal Demons Featurette.
She will next be seen in the Marvel small screen TV series Ironheart that will center on teenage Riri Williams, a genius inventor, who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. It is understood that Lyric will be playing Riri’s best friend Natalie Washington.
Ironheart will debut its first three episodes on Disney+ starting on June 24.

Georgia Flood
Georgia Flood is a thirty-something film, TV and theatre actress who was born on Phillip Island, Victoria over 75 miles away from Melbourne, Australia. She attended school in Dubai before moving to Melbourne where she completed her schooling in 2010.
From an early age, she knew she wanted to act, which led her to studying at the L’Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and then later she studied at the 16th Street Actors Studio in Melbourne. She made her stage debut in a production of Blackbird at the Melbourne Theatre Company before landing a guest role in the Australian police procedural City Homicide. She followed that up with a role in the Australian drama Tangle in 2009 and then a recurring role in the Australian comedy House Husbands.
She then took on a role in the Australian drama Wentworth and then in the 2014 mini-series ANZAC Girls, which earned her a nomination for the Golden Nymph Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries.
Over the next few years, she made her feature film debut in the independent movie I Am Evangeline then a guest starring role in the long-running Australian soap opera Home and Away and later a role in the Australian comedy Here Come the Habibs. She also appeared in the mini-series movie Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You.
In 2018, she made her debut on American TV in the short-lived Lifetime series American Princess, she followed up that with a role in the holiday movie The Dog Days of Christmas and then she appeared in the rom-com film Sit. Stay. Love. and followed that up with a role in the 2022 Liam Neeson film Blacklight.
Last year she appeared alongside Annette Bening and Sam Neill in the limited series Apples Never Fall and later this month she will appear as Humility Lucas in the 10-part AMC adventure series Nautilus, which is based on the classic Jules Verne novel “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas.”
Nautilus will debut on AMC on June 29 at 9 PM.
