International Women’s Day 2025

By  |

International Women’s Day is March 8.

This annual holiday is a focal point in the women’s rights movement, giving focus to issues like gender equality, reproductive rights and violence and abuse against women. This movement was spurred by the universal female suffrage movement, which originated from labor movements in Europe and North America during the early 20th Century.

You can learn more about International Women’s Day here.

In the meantime, you can join Gravitas, its CEO and best-selling author Lisa Sun along with 25 other fearless female founders, CEOs and industry disruptors from the worlds of business, sports, media, technology and government as they raise awareness but also join the rallying cry to move the needle forward for women.

The latest Gravitas campaign is “25 Ideas to Accelerate Action in 2025,” a powerhouse roadmap of 25 bold and actionable ideas that individuals and organizations can take to push gender equity. This campaign is especially important now that DEI – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – are on the chopping block by the current Administration in the White House.

Among those 25 ideas are the following:

* Salary Transparency: “Be willing to share your salary. And be brave enough to ask what others are making.” – Vicky Nguyen, NBC News and Today Show
* Support Women-Owned Businesses: “Review your credit card statement and aim to spend 50% in each category with a woman-owned business.” – Lisa Sun, Gravitas
* Lift as We Climb: “Women are reshaping leadership. Open doors for others—mentor and prepare another woman to take your place.” – Cassi Chandler, First African American Female Special Agent Assistant Director, FBI
* Be Intentional: “We must be deliberate in our actions, the people we bring into our lives, and the environments we cultivate for our well-being.” – Dr. Wendy Borlabi, High-Performance Coach for the Chicago Bulls
* 1 for 1: “For every mainstream sporting seat you buy, match it with a ticket for a women’s sporting event, so we can get bums in seats and fill all stadiums. With more fans, sponsorship will increase as well as broadcasting opportunities, elevating the women’s world of sport on a global scale.” – Chemmy Alcott, 4-time British Olympian in alpine skiing & TV presenter

The 25 women involved in this campaign have also recorded short videos revealing each of these transformative ideas with all 25 being unveiled on International Women’s Day. Make sure to do your part throughout Women’s History Month (all March long) while these powerful insights flood social media, igniting action and amplifying voices that demand real change.
