My Top Choices for October TV

By  |

How in the world is it already Fall?

This year has really moved along so quickly with fall TV getting underway and announcements being made for all the holiday movies to get started at the end of the month.

First of all, the main event for the month will be the Vice Presidential Debate that is set to air on October 1 on ABC at 9 PM. I urge everyone to tune in to learn more about both candidates, especially if you haven’t really been paying much attention to the stakes of this election. Our future depends on everyone making the right choice!

RETURNING FOR THE FALL

Then there are the dramas that I am most eager to watch when they each return for their new seasons.

They include the following:

Tracker on CBS on October 13 at 8 PM
NCIS on CBS on October 14 at 9 PM
The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix on October 17
Fire Country on CBS on October 18 at 9 PM
The Equalizer on CBS on October 20 at 9:30 PM
Special Ops: Lioness on Paramount+ on October 27
The Diplomat on Netflix on October 31

MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES

There will be countless made-for-TV movies airing throughout October, especially with the start of the holidays movies on Hallmark and elsewhere. But there are only a handful that I am most interested in watching mainly because of the cast members.

They are:

Hannah Swensen Mystery: A Sprinkle of Deceit on October 4 at 9 PM on Hallmark Mystery, starring Alison Sweeney and Victor Webster

Autumn at Apple Hill on Hallmark Channel on October 5 at 8 PM, starring Erin Cahill and Wes Brown.

Lonely Planet on Netflix on October 11, starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth.

A Christmas Castle Proposal on Great American Family on October 20 at 8 PM, starring Rhiannon Fish and Mitchell Bourke. This is the sequel to A Royal in Paradise.

The Christmas Charade on Hallmark Channel on October 26 at 8 PM, starring Rachel Skarsten and Corey Sevier.

NEW SHOWS

Then there are the news dramas that will debuting next month, including the following:

NCIS: Origins, the prequel series to the long-running CBS franchise drama that will focus on a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs – to be played by Austin Stowell. It will decut at 10 PM on October 14. Get ready for the 90’s to be back on your screen since the show will be set in 1991.

Matlock on CBS on October 17 at 9 PM. The show made its sneak peek this past Sunday night starring Kathy Bates in the lead role with an unexpected twist of an ending that I won’t spoil for those who haven’t watched the pilot episode yet, but that twist will certainly make things interesting.

And, lastly, the new series Mistletoe Murders will debut on Hallmark+ on October 31, starring Sarah Drew, as the owner of a small-town Christmas-themed store who is compelled to investigate local murders.

Make sure to check out our full October TV calendar that will be posted this Friday.
