My 10 Top TV Choices for August
This year is moving so quickly, as it feels like we were just getting prepared for summer to start, and now it’s getting close to being over. Thankfully we have lots of TV options to keep us distracted from the fast moving year.
The following are my top 10 choices for August TV:
First of all, I’m curious to see Emma Myers – those who watched Wednesday on Netflix will know her as Enid Sinclair, the werewolf at Nevermore Academy is Wednesday’s roommate – in the new Netflix drama A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which will debut on August 1. The series will focus on one student (the aforementioned Myers), who is determined to uncover the truth and find the real killer of a 17-year-old girl in a sleepy English town five years afer the murder.
Then there are the streaming dramas that will be back with new seasons, including:
- The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix on August 8;
- Part 1 of the fourth season of Emily in Paris also on Netflix, on August 15; and,
- The second season of the Amazon Prime fantasy The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Lastly, there are the Hallmark Channel/Hallmark Mystery movies that I am most looking forward to seeing, including:
- Junebug on August 3 at 8 PM, starring Autumn Reeser and Aaron O’Connell;
- A Costa Rican Wedding on August 17 at 8 PM, starring Rhiannon Fish and Christopher Russell; and,
- Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement on August 23 at 9 PM, starring Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith
The other made-for-TV movies that I am eager to watch are as follows:
- The Union will debut on Netflix on August 16, and stars Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry as well as J.K. Simmons, Mike Colter Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Jackie Earle Haley [among others];
- The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat will debut on Hulu on August 23, starring Sanaa Lathan, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Uzo Aduba) as well as Julian McMahon, Mekhi Phifer, Tati Gabrielle, Vondie Curtis-Hall and Russell Hornsby; and,
- The Killer will debut on Peacock also on August 23, starring Game of Thrones and Fast & Furious alum Nathalie Emmanuel and Lupin star Omar Sy.
