My Top 10 Choices for July TV

By  |

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost July, right? We are halfway through a new year, but it just doesn’t seem possible. Each year seems to move faster and faster, doesn’t it?

With July almost here, it’s time for me to take a look at what will be airing on TV next month and make my top picks. This time around I’ve selected my top 10 choices.

First of all, out of the over two dozen movies that will debut in July, I’m most interested in seeing the following:

After three years, the long-running Signed, Sealed, Delivered TV series and movie franchise is back with a new movie on Hallmark Mystery at 9 PM on July 12. Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Tale of Three Letters finds the POstables back, identifying the intended recipients of a trio of dead letters which have a surprising, personal impact on all of them.

Christmas in July will be celebrated on the Hallmark Channel with three new holiday movies; and those are as follows:

  • Rescuing Christmas on July 13 at 8 PM, starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Sam Page;
  • A Very Vermont Christmas on July 20 at 8 PM, starring Katie Leclerc and Ryan McPartlin; and,
  • An Ice Palace Romance on July 27 at 8 PM, starring Celeste Desjardins and Marcus Rosner.

Also, the Netflix movie Find Me Falling will debut online on July 19. The movie stars Harry Connick Jr. as a rock star who retreats to a cliffside home on Cyprus, after a failed comeback album, only to find his new life complicated by visitors and an old flame.

As for the TV shows that I am most anxious to see return for a new season, they are as follows:

The second season of the futuristic series The Ark will premiere on Syfy on July 17 at 10 PM. The series is set 100 years in the future, focusing on the crew of Ark One, an interstellar vessel carrying humanity’s last hope for survival, but in season one an unforeseen accident takes the life of many of the essential crew members. Season two finds the surviving passengers and crew reaching their destination only to find it uninhabitable. They now must survive long enough to locate a new home for themselves and all the ships that follow.

The second season of the Kerry Washington comedy Unprisoned will premiere on Hulu on July 17. Washington plays Paige Alexander, a messy but perfectionist relationship therapist and single mom whose life was turned right-side-up when her dad (the one and only Delroy Lindo) gets out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son.

The 6th and final season of Cobra Kai, the small screen TV series sequel to the original 1980’s The Karate Kid movie franchise, will premiere on Netflix on July 18. [Spoiler Alert:] Cobra Kai was driven out of the Valley in the season 5 finale, and now the senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai, the world championships of karate.

It’s been two years since a new episode of the small screen adaptation of Snowpiercer aired on TNT, but now the fourth and final season will be back, but this time it will premiere on AMC starting on July 21 at 9 PM. The series will pick up 9 months after Snowpiercer and Big Alice parted ways. Till and Ben (Mickey Sumner and Iddo Goldberg respectively) encounter unforeseen enemies when Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) sends them off the train on a reconnaissance mission. Meanwhile, the residents of New Eden face uncertain times and unknown adversaries, compelling them to further confront the complexities of their new reality.

Lastly, the fourth season of The Boys will come to an end on Amazon Prime on July 18. Anything and everything happens in this wild series based on the comic book series that follows a team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals known as Supes. With only one more season to go, it’ll be no-holds-barred in the storytelling.
