A Salute to Rising Stars

By  |

It’s that time again to salute those actresses who are on the move, actresses who deserve a little extra attention for their latest work, those actresses who are rising stars. Landing that crucial role in a TV movie or guest appearance in a successful show or film makes all the difference for aspiring actors.

Let’s take a look at the next group of actresses who viewers should keep their eyes on:

Emily Bader

Emily is from Temecula, California and is a 2016 graduate of Loyola Marymount University.

Over the course of the next couple of years, Emily appeared in several shorts, a couple of little-seen movies and one-time guest appearances in a couple of little-known TV shows before making a guest appearance in 2017 in the Nickelodeon series Henry Danger.

She then made her professional theatre debut in 2018 at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, appearing in the play Our Very Own Carlin McCullough. That same year she appeared in the Lifetime movie Stalked By a Reality Star and she was in a few other projects over the next couple of years.

In 2021, she had the lead role in the Paramount+ horror flick Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin; and later that year, she landed a key role in the box office movie Fresh Kills, which was written and directed by Jennifer Esposito (Blue Bloods and NCIS), who stars as Emily’s mother in the movie that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.

In 2022, she appeared in five episodes of the final season of the rebooted version of Charmed, and later that year she was cast in the title role of the upcoming Amazon Prime series My Lady Jane, which is based on a series of novels that provided a historical reimagining of the life of Lady Jane Grey, the most short-lived monarch known as the “Nine Days’ Queen,” who claimed the throne of England and Ireland from July 10 to July 19, 1553.

In this small screen adaptation, Jane Grey avoids the executioner’s axe and has a fun and fulfilling life, full of romance and adventure. Emily will star opposite Edward Bluemel (Belgravia: The Next Chapter), Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Agent Carter), Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge and the Harry Potter franchise) and Anna Chancellor (What a Girl Wants and Pennyworth).

My Lady Jane will debut online on Amazon Prime on June 27.

Over the course of the next several years, she appeared in four shorts, provided her voice to the Forza Horizon 5 video game and a few other projects.

In 2020, she appeared as Alice Mondrich in three episodes of the new period piece drama Bridgerton that debuted on Netflix at the height of the pandemic. The next year, she landed the leading role of Detective Inspector Lisa Donckers in the mystery series Professor T, which aired on PBS.

She appeared in the box office movie Surprised by Oxford, starring alongside Downton Abbey alum Phyllis Logan and Outlander alum Simon Callow.
