My Top Choices for November TV
Fall TV should be in full swing right now, but with the strikes in Hollywood – even though the writers FINALLY got an agreement approved – production is at a standstill.
Thankfully, though, there are still plenty of viewing options throughout next month from new dramas set to debut, dramas that are returning with new episodes, made-for-TV movies ready to air and more.
The following are my top picks for November TV:
NEW TO THE BLOCK
The following are new dramas that will be debuting:
All the Light We Cannot See is a limited series from Netflix that will debut on November 2, starring Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie in a period piece drama set during World War II.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves is the latest Taylor Sheridan drama set to debut on Paramount+ on November 5, starring David Oyelowo as the legendary lawman. The impressive cast includes Dennis Quaid, Donald Sutherland, Garrett Hedlund, Shea Whigham, Barry Pepper, Dale Dickey, Mo Brings Plenty, Lonnie Chavis and Margot Bingham.
The Buccaneers – based on the unfinished novel by Edith Wharton – will get another small screen adaptation this time via Apple TV+ starting on November 8, starring a set of fresh-faced newcomers and Mad Men alum Christina Hendricks.
NCIS: Sydney – the latest spin-off in the long-running franchise, will actually land on US screens on CBS on November 14 at 8 PM
BACK FOR MORE
The following dramas will be back with new episodes:
The 4th season of For All Mankind will premiere on November 10 on Apple TV+.
The first part of season 6 of The Crown will get underway on Netflix starting on November 16.
The two-episode holiday-themed finale of season 5 of Virgin River will air on November 30 on Netflix.
Here is the trailer for those two special episodes of Virgin River:
COMING TO AN END
The season finales of the following will air throughout the month:
Gen V, the spin-off series of The Boys, will air on Amazon Prime on November 3.
Loki on Disney+ on November 9.
Lessons in Chemistry, starring Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, on Apple TV+ on November 24.
Meanwhile, the following series finales will also air during the month:
Doom Patrol on Max on November 9 and All Rise on OWN on November 18 at 9 PM.
MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES
Tis the season for holiday movies and there are plenty of them throughout the month of November. In fact, there are over 60 movies – not all of them holiday-related – set to debut next month. Yep, you read that number correctly. That’s just the movies airing in November.
Out of that huge batch of options, I’ve narrowed my list down to my top five – mainly because of who is starring in each movie; and yes, they are all on the Hallmark Channel…I know, I know: I’m a big ole sap!
Never Been Chris’d on November 4 at 8 PM, starring Janel Parrish and Tyler Hynes.
A Merry Scottish Christmas on the Hallmark Channel on November 18 at 8 PM, starring former Party of Five co-stars Lacey Chabert and Scott Wolf, once again playing siblings.
Catch Me If You Claus on the Hallmark Channel on November 23 at 8 PM, starring Italia Ricci and Luke MacFarlane.
Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, the sequel to last year’s fan favorite, on the Hallmark Channel on November 25 at 8 PM, starring Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown.
A Biltmore Christmas on November 26 at 8 PM, starring Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha.
MUCH ANTICIPATED SPECIAL
And, last but certainly not least, the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who will be celebrated by Disney+ with three specials, starting on November 25. David Tennant, who was the 14th doctor, is back along with Catherine Tate returning as Donna Temple-Noble. Neil Patrick Harris will be playing the Toymaker. The first special is entitled “The Star Beast.”
Mark your calendars for the second special entitled “Wild Blue Yonder,” which will air on December 2 and the final special entitled “The Giggle,” which will air on December 9.
Check out the trailer for the 60th anniversary specials below:
Enjoy!
