Top Choices for July TV

By  |

The July TV calendar isn’t quite as voluminous as previous TV calendars, but there are still a number of returning and new dramas for which I’m anxious to watch, and a couple of made-for-TV movies that I want to see.

RETURNING SHOWS

The following are the returning shows that I can’t wait to watch:

  •  The second season of The Lincoln Lawyer on July 6 on Netflix
  •  The first three episodes of the second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty on July 14 on Amazon
  •  The third season of Sweet Magnolias on July 20 on Netflix
  •  The second season of Almost Paradise on Freevee on July 21
  •  The third and final season of The Hardy Boys on Hulu on July 26
  •  The first part of season three of The Witcher on Netflix on July 27
  •  The second season of Good Omens on Amazon on July 28

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES

The following are the movies I most want to see in July:

On July 8, A Royal Crush Christmas will debut on the Hallmark Channel, starring former Arrow alum Katie Cassidy, in her first Hallmark movie, and long-running Hallmark star Stephen Huszar, who plays a royal prince.

On July 21, A Lifelong Love will debut on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, starring Andrea Brooks in a story about a woman and her college sweetheart, who attempt to reunite her grandfather with his lost love and create a book about the experience.

On July 29, Aloha Heart will debut on the Hallmark Channel, starring Taylor Cole and Kanoa Goo from The Rookie. It’s worth watching just for the scenery as the movie is set in Hawai’i.

NEW SHOWS

Timothy Olyphant is back as Raylan Givens in Justified: City Primeval on FX starting on July 18. It’s 15 years later and Raylan is now living in Miami, working as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl, who will be played by Olyphant’s own daughter Vivian). A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit where he crosses paths with Clement Mansell (Boyd Holbrook), aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and aims to do so again.

A stellar cast, which includes Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, LaMonica Garrett, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, Hallmark Channel alum Jill Wagner and Dave Annable, and series creator Taylor Sheridan combine for the new Paramount+ dramas Special Ops: Lioness about the women in the undercover Lioness Program will debut on July 23.

FINALES

Lastly, the series finale of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will air on Amazon on July 14 while the season finale of Secret Invasion will air on Disney+ on July 26.

The July TV calendar will go live in a few hours. Check it out and let us know what you’re most looking forward to watching.
