Do You Remember: No Tomorrow

By  |

Back in 2016, the short-lived romantic comedy-drama No Tomorrow debuted on The CW.

It was based on the 2012 Brazilian series Como Aproveitar o Fim do Mundo (How to Enjoy the End of the World).

The series followed a woman named Evie Covington, who lived in Seattle, and was a bored middle-manager at a supply warehouse. In a chance encounter, she meets free-spirit Xavier Holliday, a man who believed the world would come to an end in 8 months and 12 days. Xavier was an ‘apocalyst, who lived his life fully as must as he could each and every day that was left. With the help of Evie’s friends, they tried to find out if he could be taken seriously while completing an end-of-days bucket list.

Evie Covington was portrayed by Tori Anderson, who is now one of the stars of the CBS franchise series NCIS: Hawai’i and Xavier Holliday was portrayed by Joshua Sasse, who is now one of the cast members of the FOX music drama Monarch and was one of the cast members of the comedy Galavant.

Other series regulars included:

Jonathan Langdon (who went on to appear in Utopia Falls) as Hank Barkley, Evie’s cheerful co-worker;
Saraya Blue (who went on to appear in The Unicorn and Never Have I Ever) as Kareema, Evie’s grumpy and cynical co-worker;
Jesse Rath (who went to appear in Supergirl) as Timothy Finger, Evie’s former boyfriend; and,
Amy Pietz (best known for her role in the comedy Caroline in the City) as Deidre Hackmeyers, Evie’s shallow boss.

Among the recurring cast members were:

Ted McGinley, who played Evie’s father Gary;
Kelly Stables (who went on to appear in Superstore) as Evie’s older sister, Mary Anne;
Gigi Rice (from The John Larroquette Show), who played Evie’s mom Gloria; and
Vinny Chhibber (who went on to appear in Big Sky) as Rohan, Kareema’s brother.

Some of the guests stars of the series included:

Greyston Holt (Bitten and Chesapeake Shores)
Paula Newsome (NCIS and CSI: Vegas)
Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives)
Jenna Dewan (The Rookie and Step Up)
Chelah Horsdal (The Man in the High Castle and When Calls the Heart)

The short-lived series debuted on October 4, 2016 and ran for 13 episodes, ending on January 17, 2017. Despite generally positive reviews from critics, including this from TV Guide “Tori Anderson and Joshua Sasse are infectiously charming in this offbeat romantic comedy about a woman who discovers that her dream man is an apocalypse truther. It’s a weird premise [sic] but No Tomorrow leans into its own absurdity, populating the show with surreal, strange characters and delightful prop comedy that is rarely seen in one-hour shows,” the ratings for those 13 episodes were not that great, and by May 8, 2017 the show was cancelled.
