Do You Remember: Grosse Pointe
Back when the network was still The WB (before it merged with UPN to become The CW), there was a satirical comedy from Sex and the City and Emily in Paris creator Darren Star called Grosse Pointe.
The sitcom, which centered on the off-camera antics of five actors who starred in a fictional high school drama called “Grosse Pointe,” debuted on September 22, 2000. While the comedy itself took place in Los Angeles, the series within the series was set in the fictitious wealthy Michigan suburb of Grosse Pointe. Much of the action took place on the set of a fictitious WB nighttime soap opera that was very much a parody of teenage soaps like Beverly Hills 90210.
The series starred the following as the five actors:
One-time actress, now singer-songwriter, musician and teacher Irene Molloy as Hunter Fallow
Lindsay Sloane (The Odd Couple) as Marcy Sternfeld
Bonnie Somerville (Code Black) as Courtney Scott
Kohl Sudduth (the Jesse Stone TV movie franchise) as Quentin King
Al Santos (Killer Movie Director’s Cut) as Johnny Bishop
While the critics were largely positive about the show, it struggled with low ratings, losing an average of one million viewers from its lead-in series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. The WB attempted to find the comedy an audience by moving it around on the schedule, but the show was eventually cancelled after only one season, which consisted of 17 episodes, ending on February 18, 2001.
Other cast members and guest stars included:
Kyle Howard (Royal Pains)
William Ragsdale (Justified)
Nat Faxon (Gaslit)
Joley Fisher (Ellen)
Merrin Dungey (Alias)
Lisa Edelstein (9-1-1: Lone Star and House)
Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles)
Rachael Harris (Lucifer)
The show also featured the following, who appeared as themselves:
Leslie Bibb
Jason Priestly
Carly Pope
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Elizabeth Berkley
Kristin Davis
